Would this be worth it to get or no?

Alright, i am currently looking at getting this FD in the spring, it is a 94' Black R1 (at least i think, it could be a touring), it has 64k on the chassis and i am told by the man it is on the original engine, the engine pulls very hard and he had the compression tested and it tested very well for a car with 60k plus miles on it

it has a pettit cold air induction system along with a custom exhaust system put on it, it was lowered and i think it has pettit's suspension system on it, it has new high performance tires with very nice rims that look very light, it has a BOV and that is all i know of the car, i have driven it twice now and am very pleased, i almost got it in august but things didnt' work out and i found out last night that he put it in storage for the winter and is gonna sell it again in the spring, the interior and exterior are in mint condition, all the fluids were recently flushed and it is maintaned very well

the asking price $18,000, would this be worth it, i don't have any pics of the car and there is no website on it so i can't post any pics

what do you think?

It's a ricer-mobile. Chances are that the car was poorly maintained.

Read that and go to the websites it lists. Both of them have a list of things to look for before you buy the car.

I might be able to tell you the car's trim if you tell me what options it has (e.g. sunroof, transmission, bose audio, wing, cruise control, etc.). Make sure you KNOW the year of the car. To find out, open the driver's side door and there is a sticker inside the door jam that will tell you what year the car is.

yea, i've looked at all of that mostly

the thing that i am wordering the most though is $18k for this car too much money and i should search elsewhere, especially one that hasn't had a rebuilt or a ramanufactured engine in it from mazda and the current one has 64k miles

now that i think of it, it is a touring model, it has cruise control, bose audio, sunroof, no wing

If it was really well maintained like you seem to indicate then that is a good price. It doesn't sound ricey to me except for the blowoff valve, unless that was to eliminate the stock one for the intake setup. Either way, test drive some other FDs so you can build a basis for comparison. We can tell you how much the mods are worth and if the price is in the ballpark, but you really need to see the car to judge its value. There are beautiful 100,000 mile cars and trashed 40,000 mile cars, you just gotta take them on a case by case basis.

Think about it. You will be paying $18,000 for an almost 9 year old car that has been modified (meaning abused). Then, add on another $4,000 for a new engine and/or turbos, since there is a good chance the originals will not be lasting you much longer.

I think one is better much off spending that kind of money on a large downpayment for a brand new RSX or WRX or GTI or something along those lines.

Just an opinion of someone who has been in your shoes before...
