Which Would U Buy

Overall the 1st one's interior and paint look better there's too noticable dings on the Blue one. Just looking for you guys opinion on which one would be better to buy.

The first one is priced too high. Second one is reasonably priced.

Prices look ok for both to me....

As few things to think about:

* Car #1, 93 paint jobs (especially red) chip badly, just ask me. Since it's on the original paint, if it's not chipping now, I'll be it will be soon. Decent paint jobs are not cheap.

* Car #2 already has some mods done (reliability and power). Most of them you'll want/need to do to #1 when/if you get it.

* Car #2, If they are original turbos, having 110k could put them on the downside of their lifespan. Also, on #2, you don't list an ECU upgrade. The car has quite a bit of mods, so if you get it you should look into getting a boost controller or upgraded ECU to deal with some of those power mods.

* #2, if the suspension is the original suspension, it could be quite worn. You might see if you can get some more info about any maintanence that has been performed on the car. However, typically people usually upgrade the suspension (at least springs) on all FD's if not just for lowering it just a tad.

Do you care about a sunroof or not? That should also be part of your decision (I wouldn't own an FD without one ).

The red car's paint seems to be in perfect condition, garage kept and all. I didn't see any signs of chipping. Do all of them start chipping and by chipping do u mean big pieces of paint or rock chips? Is this common on every car? Do u have some kind of information/writeup on this that I could take a look at.(not questioning you just looking for more info). Thanks a bunch.

Edit. Hehe sunroof really isn't a big deal and I would prefer not to have the bose speakers to deal with

23. PAINT CHIPS ON HOOD, ROOF, AND OTHER BODY PANELS

This is another one of those RX-7 problems which is not documented in an official TSB but is being treated by Mazda on a case by case basis. RX-7 models painted Vintage Red, Montego Blue, or Black are most susceptible to this problem. Small paint chips start to
appear on the hood, around the headlight openings, on the leading edge of the roof, and around the wheel arches. The problem is caused by a lack of adhesion between the paint and the primer and is made worse by the fact that the primer is white in color.

In order to properly fix this problem, the entire car must be stripped down to bare metal, reprimed, and then repainted. In most cases Mazda can be convinced to pick up the tab for this expensive job ($5,000 - $7,000) without having to hire a lawyer.

I'd go with the R1, I had one till it was stolen last year, And I know people have problems with paint chipping, but mine never did. I feel more inclined to believe it probably won't after this long, or maybee the secret is keeping them garaged all the time.
I do like the sunroof in the one I have now (94). but wish it had the second oil cooler, and seats from the R1.oil cooler upgrades are expensive, and I would'nt be in a hurry to do it if I had two.

Well the R1 Has leather seats and I don't know if it has the oil coolers. All i noticed was the front and rear spoilers and the strut tower bar brace.

Well, R1's didn't come with leather. So either it's not really an R1 or someone replaced the R1 seats with touring seats (I'm betting on the first).

It's pretty common for people to try to pass off a car as a R1 to get more money at sale time....

Talking Save some cash

2nd one if you are younger and are wanting the car for racing, you will spend money on mods anyhow. If what Mahjik said is true about the Red paint, you will have to get thei first shot anyhow so paint is not a big consideration.

Would be skeptacle about the second with the repainted exterior. If its a quality paint job, no worries, if its Earl Shibe, your gong to need more them Macco to get it right. Interior isn't that bad, lots of ebay stuff and aftermarket things to spruce up a not-so-clean interior quickly and cheaply!!

My take, if you want a daily driver, get the Red R1 Clone. If you are going to race it anyhow and the turbo boost numbers are where they should be and the terms on the warranty allow for some additional mods later, get the second blue one. You will have some $$$$ in your pocket and some of the more effective first stage mods already done. Take the dollars you saved and get some more mods, ECU, radiator, NOS, you know the cool stuff!!

i have watched a few cars that had a *waranty*. never seen one that they actualy covered the motor no matter the cause...

if it were me, and i HAD to go with one of them i would go with #2

Yea i'm leaning more towards the first 2nd one for financial reaons mainly. I've got 2k for down payment that i have sitting around. I'm in the process of selling my MK3 Supra for 3K but i'll end up purchasing the 7 before I sell the supra so my down payment is limiting my options but thanks for everyones input
