When I finish it(if that's possible), i'm sure I will be tempted to sell. But, only if I can step into a Z06 and have a reasonable payment.
Otherwise..........i'm keeping it.

Jim, I don't wanna venture too off-topic on her thread, but tell me, what is it about the Z06 that drives so many people crazy? Sure the car's real fast and what not, but I'd still take an FD over it ANYDAY...

torque - check
reliability - check
not 10-15 years old - check
no need to be modded to be competitive in autoX - check
no such thing as "reliablity mods" - check
good looks, great handling, great power for a pretty damn good price when lightly used.

Price for all that - big fat check, even when slightly used.

Plus everytime I go on a highway trip I see 30 vettes. And only 3 3rdgens in the last 3 years. They are definitely nice, no doubt, but dollar for dollar not even close in my book.

Now is someone going to be kind enough to post those pics for femaletuner? (and the rest of us who are waiting to see the setup)

Talking you loving it

see you're starting to love your car. i got my car last march and i threw in $4000 so far fixing both little things and big stuff. I love it when people roll down their window and tell me they like my car or when i shake my head and laugh when any four banger revs up their engine right next to me and try to race me. I would never sell my car even for $20000(although I spent almost that much). I love my car so much I named it Priscilla.

Those were my "cons" of the Z06. I dunno what kinda dough you guys have to play w/, but a Z06 is expensive as hell in my eyes. And the fact that Vettes are soooo common turns me off immediately too.

Last night, I was driving home from a friend's house, and I stopped by a Giant in the middle of nowhere real quick...and apparently in the parking lot, there was a huge gathering of all sorts of "hooked up" cars and what not. I had just parked right next to the Giant, and didn't notice the gathering. When I came out like 5 min later, a cpl of guys had come down to check out my car, and w/ it came all the oohs and aahs...wow this, awesome that...and you shoulda seen how many heads turned as I headed out. And I wasn't even trying to flaunt my car either.

I gotta tell ya...it's reactions like that...and the respect the car commands that puts the BIGGEST smile on my face...and VERY few cars today can do that for ya

ya know, i was just enjoying reading the thread, and wasn't going to post. but, it reminds me once again that i get to drive an amazing machine whenever i want. so many things about it outway the alternatives. it comes at a cost, but its worth it. whenever i can just blast up a canyon road with the windows down, sunroof open, radio off, any bad part of my day can just melt away. so i'm going to have to second the above post, especially "C".

keep it.

The folks on the forum talked me into keeping my '95. I will just fix things as they come up, which is not often, although I did have to replace 2 of the little radio ***** last year. I get Mazda parts at wholesale so price is no concern. 100% factory parts all the time. Learned that with my new '72 RX3.
What is all this "reliability mod" stuff you guys mention. Is this for the '93 models?? kevin

Well for me it comes down to how commited and how much you love the car. I spend so much on the car that it will not be worth to sell it anymore . Gonna keep it as it is gonna be a classic one of these days However since you just got yours in May maybe its not too late . Depends if you would be willing to spend the money and time (down time) on the car. Its an RX7 after all... you can't leave with it and you can't leave without it . If you just want to be driving a fast car you would be better off with a supra or something similar in the long run.

Reliability mods are for all years (US models at least) of rht 3rd gen RX7. You need to check a detailed post out about that right now.

Do a search for "reliability mods" and the user name "jimlab" if you ever need to look for reliability mods. Hell, just bookmark it!

Well, to answer the question about why I like the z06.......
See, i'm a competitive bastard.......and if i'm going to get out of my 7, it's got to into something comparable performance-wise. The z06 is that.
I love the way it looks.........I want a targa top.........and I like that (as said before) you don't have to do anything to it to be competitive at an autocross.
All of those positive comments above are reasons for me to like it as well. Most of all........"no reliability mods". Also, i'd like to buy American for once. It is expensive though.........
The 7 definitely gets more looks, and is more rare. It's a great car.

You can't get a Z06 with a targa top. Hardtop only.

some people are that dedicated to their fd, some people quit after the first couple of problems, thats how you tell who are the true fd fans...

I'm still here, s1verbulletFD, it's good taht one person's question can turn into a free for all conversation board. Alot of the guys have pm'd me and offered great tips as well as all the others on the forum. I appreciate the support. I'm in the process of putting another radiator in, and I went ahead and replaced both fans and the motors, just to be on the safe side.

FemaleTuner: If you replaced "both fans and the motors, just to be on the safe side" then I would infer that these items are undamaged and still function. I suggest you sell them to help offset the cost of repairs.
