There is no such thing as a daily driver FD with NO problems....and certainly not a single turbo beast cranking out over 400rwhp, LOL. Pretty damn good price on the first car, if everything is in order.

That second car is WAY overpriced.

If you want a good daily driver car, either find a stock one or a car with the reliability mods (minor mods ok too). You'll be surprised just how few unmolested cars there still are out there....

Buy the Yellow one... it looks like a pretty good buy. 1) get a compression test done 2) get rid of that retarded wing 3) have another car on the side for daily driver.

Daily driver?

from the description of the first one:

"this is a very very nice show car, not a good daily driver due to no A/C and Radio"

Yes it can! Who said you always have to be on boost when you drive it? Stay off the boost and you wont have a problem daily driving any highly boosted car.

The characteristics of a 13B-REW making that much power at reasonable boost do not make it very friendly or fun to drive in daily driving situations.....

I agree...and it's hard to drive one daily with no a/c. When it's raining and your windshield starts to fog up and it's in the summer...good luck! It sucks if you get caught in the rain with no a/c. It gets extremely hot in the car too. Anyways, like rynberg said, it's not too friendly...not to say it can't be done. But it definitely would be tough to drive daily.

Some of you guys really need to own a NA rotary. That way you can learn some restraint. My Fd is the first turbo charged car I've ever owned, so I really appreciated the added power I got. But that still didn't persuade me to drive with a leaded foot and drive at max boost on a daily basis. I wouldn't personally have no problem driving a 400+ whp Rx7 on a daily basis and know it would be reliable with me behind the wheel.

Guys just know that you don't have to always drive the car like you stole it.

I agree with ya on this one, if your easy on the gas when cruising and shift around 3k theres no problem with boost.

Cars I've owned/driven in my life -- GMC full-size van, Renault Encore, Mazda 626, 79 RX-7 GS, Nissan 200SX SE-R, 02 Protege, my FD. Yeah, I've always had lots of power.....

Why the hell would you own an FD to drive it like a grandma? I hardly drive my car like I stole it when I am daily driving, but I can guarantee you I'll never lose a motor to carbon build-up either....

FDs making over 400 rwhp on pump gas are damn near n/a until 3500 rpm, usually are very loud due to full open exhaust, may drive slightly less smoothly due to larger injectors, are large-ported for rougher/higher idle (and more noise), no air pump = smelly exhaust, etc. It's not just the powerband that makes very high power FDs unpleasant to drive in any kind of daily use.

Maybe it's because so mine would last past 100k unlike yours!

In all seriousness Ryan, ones driving habits dictates the life span of ones engine in which case, yours needed a rebuild at a lower mileage lifespan than mine. That's the point!

I look at it this way -- if I can get 80k out of a motor while ENJOYING the car and beating on it on the track several times a year -- I can ENJOY my car for 8 years. OR I could drive the car like a grandma (what's the point?) and make it a whole 10 years between rebuilds. The difference seems a little academic at that point, doesn't it?

Now that you're done taking cheap shots at me, what's your response to the comments I made on the issue at hand -- daily drivability of a 400+ rwhp single-turbo FD?

I only responded to you that way because you used the rolleyes icon. Now as far as my response goes, I stand by my comments earlier that a 400+ rwhp Rx7 can be driven daily and remain reliable. I won't discredit the valid points you made about the decreased drivability and smell you get with a single turbo conversion. That still doesn't change the fact that a 400+ hp modified Rx7 can be engineered to be reliable while still being drivable and not stinking up the whole block. People just need to be more creative with how they upgrade their vehicles.

And if you look back to my initial post that you commented on, you'll find I said that "The characteristics of a 13B-REW making that much power at reasonable boost do not make it very friendly or fun to drive in daily driving situations.....".

Nowhere did I state that the car wasn't drivable, just that it wouldn't be much fun. I think this is pretty well played-out by the number of single-turbo people here who regularly drive their FDs -- almost none -- vs the number of twin-turbo people who regularly drive their cars.

Yes that's banana RE's old car. I've seen it in person and it just gorgeous, I'd get that in a heart beat if I din't have an FD already.

But as a daily driver. HA!

If you want DD get yourself a pristine FD with low miles.
