It worked for me!

I finally attempted the dreaded injector removal. I had heard that this was challenging and damage to the injectors was a possibility. I was not looking forward to this at all. The key to the process was a pair of cheap tubing pliers I bought at Harbor Freight on line. I never imagined that I would use them to great success as an injector removal tool. I don't know how others have done it in the past and I never bothered to research it like I would. The following pictures document the tool, position, and results! These things are really in there tight believe me. One of the 850s was very stubborn. I pulled hard on the injector with the pliers and twisted the injector back and fourth with my other hand. This took about 30 to 60 seconds each for all but one. I actually stopped on that one a couple of times to check the progress and saw no results. Persistence did prevail in the end and you can see that all four injectors will be off the RC Engineering next week.

I hope this helps the timid! Yet I accept no responsibility if this is not the best way to do it. Like the title says, "It worked for me".

Nice tip!! I have the same hose pliers (which are CRUCIAL for changing turbo coolant hoses), and it would have saved much more time with my injectors.

Hum... I pulled mine out and cracked a little of the red plastic. I doubt it will hurt the function of the injector, will it?

Well, I guess I was one of the unlucky ones. I can't imagine twisting these things out. I tried that first but, the injectors were just turning in the Orings. To answer one of you the chip in the plastic is no big deal. Breaking the plastic connecter would be bad though.

Take a wide, flat screwdriver or putty knife and work it in on the edge between the plastic and rail. Twist.

Just be sure not to break any of the plastic.

What are you getting done at RC Engineering? I want to send mine off to them to get cleaned and the 850's bored to 1300's and wanted to know if you had a ballpark figure on how much this was. Thanks for the tips will be doing this in the near future.

thanks
