Won't crank

My car started OK earlier today but now it does nothing.
The heater, lights radio etc all work.
When I turn the ignition on I can hear the EGI relay click as usual, when I try to start I can hear the fuelpump running but the can won't crank.
I've checked all fuses, no problems there.
I suspect something in the wiring of the alarm came loose, I tried connecting the 2 wires for the immobilizer on the connector on the alarm that normal are disconnected when the alarm is armed.
But I wanted to see if you guys could come up with anything else to check/try.

Are you getting 12V at the starter solenoid when you turn they key?

If yes, the problem is the solenoid or the starter.

If no, you have an electrical problem. Use the diagnostic procedures in the Body Electrical manual in the stickies.

I started tinkering with it some more today and the sound that I thought was the fuelpump is comming from under the hood.
Yesterday I kept trying to start with the door closed...
I think it's just another FD with a click start problem.

Fixed, I jacked up the frontleft wheel to create some space and gave the little thing next to the startermotor (solenoid?) a few whacks with the head of a ratchet and it startet right up.
Man, I get so freaked out every time something stops working on this car... just because of the horrorstories on this board.

Your solenoid is about to die. I'd get a new starter (which includes the solenoid) - unless you want to carry a hammer with you always.
