Question Wiring harness question

Just have a quick question. I pulled my ECU harness to strip out the un-used connecters (because I am running a single turbo) while insuring no wires are cracked. Here's the question; I pulled all the un-used wires back to the ECU plugs and I have cut them to a length of about 6 inches. Do I have to remove the whole wire and connecter inside the ECU plug harness or can I just leave 6 inches of wire hanging out. Reason being, I just don't want the possibility of breaking something of the big yellow plug if I don’t have too.

put some shrink tubing over the exposed ends of the wires. some of your unused connections may be power sources to turn on relays or solenoids and you don't want to find out the hard way that they are. alternatively just remove them from the connector altogether. but someday if you choose to put your car back to stock you'll be wondering where you put those removed connectors..
