Take out the battery if you intend never to drive it. But what if the garage is caught on fire? You are screwed!

I start the car once in a while and let it run for a little bit. Make sure to not engauge the parking break though while it's sitting.

Why would you not want to engage the parking brake while its sitting?

You dont want to engage the parking brake because the brake pads will corrode the disc where they are sitting and then might stick or something. Just block the wheels and/or leave it in gear.

Disconnect the battery... and start the car every 3 to 4 weeks.

Benn doing that every year since 93 and my original engine is still doing reall good (touching wood).

You may want to add fuel stabilizer to the gas tank. If you can't move the car at all, then lifting the car off the ground will prevent any tire flat spotting.

And Billy says, don't put on the handbrake.
