Take apart the switches and clean the deposits off the metal contacts.

Very good advice. I used to do that every couple of years on my 82 GSL.

On the drivers side door jamb(when open) there is a rubber boot going from door to car. The part that is touching the car body itself, wiggle that while rolling your windows up and down. I bet that's what it is. Your going to have to clean that connection and put them back together.

The plastic "trigger" (that you pull up or push down on) is made up of two pieces. That trigger moves a slider that actually makes the electrical contacts.

What I did was pull the switch box out of the driver's door. Unplug the harness & took the hole works apart. I then plugged the connector back in & cycled the slider & my windows worked fine.

I then focused on the trigger & found that the two pieces were loose. A little epoxy cured that & now my windows work like new. It's cheaper than buying a switch

I have a similar problem. This is what works on my car

Disconnect the battery. wait about 10 seconds. reconnect battery. Start car and try windows

Other things i've tried which sometimes work

turning on parking lights and/or flicking the drivers side door locks

Usually when the power windows start working again there is an audible click from the cpu just in front of the right hand door

here is my problem see if you can help me out, my driver side window goes up and down, but my passenger side window wont go up, but goes down from both the driver side and passenger side. If i short the window motor directly on the passenger side it goes up! and i am applying the same voltage to the motor as the fuse supplies from the battery which is 11 volts! so the same current is being applied to the motor from the battery through the switches. So how come it wont go up with switches from either side, but will go down? help!

1) Did you or did you not clean out the guts of those switches yet? This is a VERY common issue and usually fixes it.

2) Based on what I saw inside that switch (keep in mind I'm not an electrical engineer) it appeared there is a signal wire and set of contacts for both the up and down modes. That may indicate a short or open circuit on that wire, so inspect it thoroughly.
