What's the best way to remove window tint?
Do I just use a Razor and cut away... Is there an easier
way?

yes.... soak something and leave it one the edges and with your fingernails/ravor (very gently) it should come off easily... ive heard people using sponges, nespapers, etc. hope this helps.

you will need lots of razor blades! They dull VERY QUICKLY and will be worthless after about 5 sq. inches of window. I know this as I just had to remove some tint about a month ago.

The real bitch is to get it off of rear windows without screwing up the defroster grid.....

I have heard several versions of taking a black plastic trashbag, wetting down the tint with soapy water, then taping the trashbag onto the window tightly and letting the sun "cook" the tint onto the trashbag.....done correctly when you pull off the trash bag, you have the tint and the clear film come away with the bag, so all you have left is the glue. And denatured alcohol works pretty good on the glue, as does BERRYMAN'S carb cleaner, just be careful of getting the carb cleaner on any plastic parts.....melts 'em!

 

Use a Heatgun it work alot better

 

There is Tint remover at your local Autoparts store. Spray it on and about 10 mins later its all bubled up and pulls right off. The only problem is the glue left behind. I think HOT soapy water will work best as you dont need to worry about it melting your dash or interior parts. Also no fumes. I had to pull tint off my CRX's windshield and it used that stuff from trak Auto. its like 6 bucks works like a charm. Also razor blades will screw up your defroster if you blade the rear window. Try using Goo Gone on the glue. It might work best. Havnt tried it yet. Try WD40 next its good for taking off adhesive. But it might be a bit messy.

 

I used one of those Jiffy clothing steamers to remove my tint. The steam melted the glue and all of the tint came off without damaging the defroster grid. There was very little residue left over and it only took a half hour.

 

.ive removed tint on all 3 of my 3rd gens...including rear hatch
..depending on your process..razor will not dull and one will do...
..what ive done is fairly simple....use the razor for the edges to rip off the tint
..then used a generous amount of window cleaner for the leftover gum..ClearVue to be exact...let it sit and wiped off with a rag....

 

personnaly i used a sharp razor which was slightly bent as well as goo be gone to take off my tint. it came off pretty easily so you should not be scraping too hard. just go slowly and don't skimp on the solvent.

 

i tint windows at the moment...

heres what you do.

get a spray bottle and fill it up with water and a small amount of (half teaspoon) of lemon joy or alternative.

start the peeling of the film with a razor at the corner. then roll up the window.

pull the film at a decent angle or you may break your window. pull it all the way off.

then coat the window heavily with the sprayer. scrape it with the razor in even length sections to make sure you dont miss any of the glue. there will be a lot of glue. more than you think... watch the edges near the seals.

if you have felt around the windows, tape it up on the sides. otherwise it'll get all over the window in the glue.\

and steel wool on the back defroster.
