Will pills cure my ills?

I recently had a new Pettit twin turbo installed. It is the (new) stock turbo they sell with the enamel coating. Plus, I believe they said they do a small enhancement (porting?) to increase air flow by about 10%.

However, I don't seem to be getting consistent boost from the primary and little or none from the secondary. While cruising at a fixed speed, say 40 mph, I can feel the car surging. After searching this forum, I followed a link to a turbo troubleshooting guide. At the end of the guide, it was mentioned that it is common for the pills between the primary compressor and wastegate and turbo pre-control actuators to get lost.

Will missing pills cause me to loose boost?

How can I tell if they are missing and if so, where can I get new ones? I should mention that I had American Import Motors in Indy put on a performance dp and cat-back and at the time they said they had to put a pill in the turbo. At the time I didn't know what they meant but I assume the "stock" pill or pills would not compensate for the lessened back pressure resulting from the exhaust mods.

By the way, after reading boost and fluctuating idle posts all day yesterday, I came to the conclusion that for a newbie like me, it would be nice to find a list of acronyms so I can easily find out what CRV, BOV and other abbreviations stand for and where these devices are. Does anything like that exist on this site?

Pills are not your problem. You probably have a hose disconnected somewhere that isn't allowing the second turbo to come on line.

Without any pills boost is typically 7psi on a stock car. The pattern is normal and power feels like you just aren't completely flooring the go-pedal. It should still scoot pretty decently with no pills.
