Honestly, the best thing to do is to contact someone in your local RX-7 club and sit in it. That's the ONLY way you'll know if you'll fit or not.

Check the regional forums here:

Of course the best suggestion is go to try the room of FD. IMO, you will feel uncomfortable in FD's room.

You'll fit, but not comfortably. Not only consider seat travel and headroom, but I think your shoulder will be smashed up against the door and your quads may hit the non-tilting steering wheel.

Definitely try to sit in a local one if possible before traveling hundreds of miles to test drive one.

The hardest part will be getting in and out...especially if someone parks really close to you.

Good luck.

The best thing to do is test one out, I am 6' and sit about just right and have another couple inches to move the seatback, however the seats have a lot of support on the sides that your larger size might not find to comfortable, the car is not made to be comfortable, I get downright annoyed after driving it for too long and I only weigh 160.

I'm 6'2" and 220 pounds, pretty fit and muscular. My FD is the touring model with the sunroof so I lose a little room. I fit, but I have to recline my seat fairly far back, even then I can't slide my hand between top of my head and the roof! Knees are up close to the steering wheel so I have to watch my steering technique when I'm drive'n the twisties. Right side seat bolster digs into my hip, like Icemastr mentioned, it gets painful on long drives.

I don't think you will be very comfortable. The previous owner of my car was 6' 3". Watching him get in an out looked painfull. His height was one of the reasons for selling the car.

I guess you will just have to try it to know for sure.

You will fit, but it's going to be tight. I'm 6'4" as well and my knees rub against the steering wheel. If you can deal with that you will be ok. headroom was fine for me, but I am all legs. So you will be able to drive it, but for how long a trip is up to you and your back doctor.

I agree with Mahjik... you need to sit in one... everyone is different as far torso length, leg length, etc.

for what it's worth, I'm 6'4" 245lbs and I fit perfectly in my '93 R1. even have enough room for a helmet

I am 6'4" about 200 and I barely make it. Most would say I am "thin" but I prefer "athletic" You will probably fit, but you may not feel comfortable. You'll be tight as the cockpit is also narrow.

Rule out any FD with a sunroof. I don't fit in FD's with sunroofs.

When the car was designed it was built around the average japanese passenger. Compare the average japanese person to yourself, that should answer your questions

it will be tight. a custom seat may give you the little room you need to be comfortable

I am a linebacker 6'0" 260lbs. The only thing that I have a problem with is getting my hamhock thighs under the steering wheel. I wish I got the touring with tilt.

I have a 94 touring. They did not make a tilt steering wheel.
