ok check this out, whenever i hit 3500 rpm there is a noise from the rear of the car that sounds like a belt is squealing....it happens 90% of the time any ideas??? its not the belts under the hood so thats out..

 

I had a similar problem two years ago. It really sounded like a squeling belt, and I could hear it when RPM were between 3200 and 3300. The noise was coming from the metal gasket between downpipe and main cat. So, if the noise is coming from the rear side, it could be from the gasket between main cat and muffler. I just took it off, cleaned the surfaces, re-installed and has been silent till today.

 

really?? im gonna be pi##ed if thats wut it really is haha.....sometimes it makes a noise and sometimes it doesnt tho...

 

try putting electrical tape around the hinge on your trunk/hatch. For some odd reason it seemed like i had crickets in my damn car, sometimes it would make the noise sometimes it didn't but by putting the tape on it stopped the noise (i don't open my trunk/hatch that often maybe 1-2 every month to clean the glass) And magically it stopped
