Why would boost be leaking from the IAC?

My just put a new half bridge motor in my car and it's getting 5-7lbs of vacume at 1200rpm and runs like crap until you boost, then all is well. Compression is good, so I did a boost leak check and ALOT of air is comming out of the Idle Air Control motor. Out of the end of the plug and all around the body. I assume this is not normal?

Sounds like a bad gasket, but I would say the whole things is bad if it is leaking boost from the electical plug
