why R1 struts so expensive

Sorry im an FDnewbie but why are R1 strut tower bars so much more expensive than some aftermarket ones such as GReddy's? I know they are not adjustable like most others but what does this mean. Do they provide you with a stiffer ride?

and Cheap isnt OEM

If you think the strut bar is expensive, check out the price on a Mazdaspeed R-spec hood. . . . or for that matter, their dual oil cooler kit. just thinking about it makes my teeth hurt!

It was only available on R1 models, which had a limited production to begin with. So the value is higher on parts specific to a limited produced higher performance vehicle.

No. Get tokicos. Some parts should not be bought from mazda, and suspension is not one of them.

Of course, my dad and I just installed tokicos on his R1, so we have a set of R1 struts (with 89k miles) sitting in the garage if interested

Car does not handle better with Tokico's. I would switch back in a minute if my OEM's were newer. They are either too stiff or too soft. Mazda put a lot of time fine tuning the shock valving for both handling and ride.

I personally have koni yellow's and they are great with my racing beat springs...

oh and I just bought a 97 type RB tower strut bar from japan off of ebay for $96.00 but it cost me $45.00 for shipping, but still $141.00 for OEM Mazda strut bar isn't bad.
