You mean that with the turbocharger assembly out of the car, the primary turbo won't turn by hand?

Is there any evidence of the turbo rubbing on the compressor (aluminum) housing?

Ya the turbos are sitting in my driveway, primary is totally ceased.

the primary looks to be stuck against the cold side of the housing, although I havent looked super close yet.

Is it a jdm car that is f.o.b.? If so then I wouldn't trust the milage on it. That might explain why the turbo was seazed. It could have 150000km on it. Either way that sucks.

That's wild. Even if it contacts the housing, it should still spin.

Take it apart and post pictures.

So no ideas guys??
Im thinking it is one of the following:
A- at some point the car blew an oil line and it starved the primary under light load

B- the car sat in the export yard for 1yr and the turbine ran totally dry... when I topped it up upon recipt of the car off the boat from Japan, oil didnt seem to get in there, and it ceased under light load when I started driving it. (never having even been in an FD before I didnt realize it wasnt boosting at 2000-2500 rpm.)

---FYI--- I felt boost/spool for a brief second when at a stop light going up a hill right after getting the car, but never after that!!!----

C-coolant lines got bunged up due to old coolant, and the primary ceased due to thermal expansion

D-(unlikely)something big got sucked into my intake, leading to turbine failure due to a foregin object hitting the turbine at high speeds

It's possible that the dry spin-up friction welded the sleeve bearing.

I would definitely take that thing apart and see what happened.

Ouch, you didn't prime the oil pressure after it sat for a year plus?

If something hit your compressor wheel, it would hit the visible fins first. If that happened, it would probably just make noise when it spooled.

No way to tell without digging into it.
