Question Why is my car creaking while driving down the road?

I dont really know too much about suspension, so I figured Id post here and find out whats going on!

The car creaks really bad just driving down a smooth road! It gets pretty loud and seems to be getting worse (Its been been going on about a week). I put it on stands and looked around underneath for something out of place, and this was the only thing I could find...I think possibly maybe a bushing, I just dont know what to buy??

Thanks for the help in advance!!

Ive heard alot of horror stories about the shops around here, so Im kinda scared to take it anywhere! lol

This is right next to the back of the wheel. On the other side this rod is almost centered, and this one is rubbing aginst the metal as shown!

bushings, they are rubber and ~20 years old, time to replace them. there are a few options powerflex and superpro are the 2 most used besides oem.

not really a clunk, sound like an old wooden floor does when you walk on it, but louder!
it is coming the front!
how do I know which bushing to buy? I know I prolly need all of them replaced, but the price on the whole kit is too expensive for me right now!

buy the entire kit as they are all probably pretty brittle, could also be motor mounts. It is something like a 28 piece kit and contains for both front and back.

ok, so you got an RX7, and no spare car or money set away for repairs..? Not good.
but ok..

You say you are getting a squeeking noise from the car just going down a smooth road..
As long as the road is pure as silk, you dont turn your wheels at all, and it still squeeks, im lead to believe it isnt a bushing.

Is it speed-related? louder the faster you go?
or is it rev-related? louder the higher revs you have...

does it make this squeeking noise when the car is idling?
can you provoke the sound by parking it, and pushing down on the fenders to compress suspension and thus "activating your cars suspension and bushings" ?

Can you put the rear on stands, start the car and go slooooowly through gears to see if it comes at a standstill front but rear "at speed" ?

lol yeah ive actually got 2 rx7 (1j fd and an fc), i have enough money to hopefully replace an endlink or a couple bushings, Just really dont feel like dropping $500 on something that isnt broke (yet) lol.

Im not really worried about not having a car to drive...I did it for a year while saving money and getting the swap finished! Wouldnt really recommend that to anyone, but thats what I did lol.

Enough with my story, back to the fd...

Its not speed related, does the same thing when im pulling out of the garage that it does when im going 40-50 mph

It doesnt change with idle or rev.

I can push on the fender and it doesnt make the sound...its really only while moving...I was told possibly sway bar end link bushing?

Try wrapping some electrical tape around the hood's latch. Or adjusting the height of the hood's rubber stops. My car sounds like crickets before I did this.

Maybe the weight of the 1J is to far forward causing the metal to rub.

Try polishing your brake rotors, sometimes the buildup of brake dust causes the the brake pads to drag creating a similar sound. Ask Supernaut, worked for him!
