Why doesn't someone make a '00 FD replica spoiler?
Someone really should make a replica of the 2000 FD spoiler. Made out of fiberglass and carbon-fiber. I saw on another thread that some dudes were making a replica of the mazdaspeed hood, and possibly the scoot hood(which I love). I think if someone made this spoiler and other hard to find(and expensive) Japan-only parts, they would make a killing. I really don't want to spend between 850-1000 dollars for a frikkin' spoiler!

Heya Swamp RX-7,
If you are talking about the front spoiler, we have thought about it and talked with the shop. You do not want the lower spoiler made out of fiberglass or carbon fiber. Plastic is the best way to go for this piece, unfortunately, as it is very flexible. The reason being is that the FG and CF would be too solid, the FG would splinter, and the CF may either crack or bend your front bumper. You will inevitably hit or scrape the front spoiler. Mine scrapes at least a few times a day.

I think the price for a real rear spoiler at around 850-1000 isn't too bad given its design and craftsmanship.
If someone were to make it out of fiberglass or CF, it would be pretty expensive, especially if the quantity is modest. It would be a little hard to make if you want to keep the wing adjustable like the real one.

I won't question the carftmanship of the spoiler, but these things aren't what I would call a hand-made product. I'm sure the spoiler is punched out at the assmbly plant in Japan. Remember FDs aren't super rare like here in the states. The only reason for the exurberant price is the fact that it is shipped from Japan. I'm sure if the spoiler was offered here at the local dealership it would be a $400-600.00 accessory. By the way, could someone with the '00 rear spoiler tell me what the wing is made out of.

the '99 and up rear wing is made of urethane, and comes painted to boot. Not too bad if it will match your paint, you just saved $100 (roughly) of body shop $$$. I still love the 15th anniversary wing myself.
