Why does it SMOKE?

Before driving the car spiritedly, I always wait until the motor is warmed up properly(5mins idle, 20-30 normal drive).

Now the problem, if I pump the pedal several times, while the motor is still in nuetral, it blows a continious cloud of smoke out of the tail pipe.

This is the weird part, it will not smoke if I'm driving in gear, even if I push it to redline. Only if I'm sitting at the stop light(in nuetral) and pump my throttle will it smoke.

As far as the color goes, some said it was white, while others say it was black/brown.

I clueless at this point. Please advise.

you dont need to idle for 5 mins, 1 min is good enuf, then just keep her below 3k rpm and no boost till she is warmed up and youll be fine.

When are you stepping on the pedal to get smoke, when your warmed up? Your probally just too rich, when your moving, your car is under load and is actually using more of that gas instead of spitting it out of your rear. Check for leaky injectors perhaps???

BTW: What is PFB in your mod list?

What's the history of the car (age of engine, turbos)?

How long has this been happening?

Mahjik,

It running on original motor and twins (105,000 miles). It's running stronger than my friends 94 RX-7 with 67,000 miles. It will boost perfectly.

I never really rev the car because in my opinion, it's pointless. I mean, the exhaust is quiet due to the turbos, so why rev. I just usually bov my opponents while in gear. So to my surprise, one day I decided to really rev it up there in the rpms just to see how loud I could get it and smoke started to come out. This happened about last August of 2002. I never reved for fun again!

I had a spirited run with a M3 last week, and pumped the throttle thinking I'm in gear when I actually wasn't and smoke came out. Popped back in gear and everything was find again(no smoke).

Hope this was enough info.
