Many of the 93's have the full tan interior. That's just the way they came. Most people prefer the "all black" look.

Black can be very hot in hot climates, it's possible that that was an early concideration, but somehow tan seems to hold up to heat and wear and tear worse than black...
Maybe cause a lot of black interior owners felt it was hot, and put up UV/Tint, to keep things in check, and I firmly belive UV = #1 killer of interiors....

Mines black.

I am with Adam in thinking that Black was the "preferred" color, but after hunting EBay the other day for some luxury rides, I've noticed many have tan interiors (not Rx7 exclusive).

I think it depends on the exterior color. Tan on brilliant black looks nice i think. Tan on Vintage red, not so hot.

Black on black as well. Nothing like dark colors for such a sleek car.

tan is more of a luxury look while black is more of a performance/coupe look

although it is hard to upgrade the tan as far as racing seats!

Montego Blue with black interior. I actually LIKE the tan interior. Too bad there wasn't a dark gray interior offered ever. I'd like to see a red interior car.....pics anyone?

The more FD's I see, the more I love the Vintage Red w/ Black cloth interior. It does get hot in the summer, but window tint helps.

Hmm, I guess I'm the only one who likes the tan interior. Mind you I don't have a 93, personally I think tan door panels and bins are a bit much. And the tan carpet looks pretty nappy. But I love the look of tan leather seats on a red car. I guess I'm the only one....

Your not the only one! I love the tan seats and carpet, I just think the door panels and rear bins are an over kill. I'd like to keep my tan seats, and swap out the panels. I have a BB, so black on black would be a bit much. Black panels and tan seats/carpet would keep things in check IMO.

I hated it at first. When I removed my door panels to paint and add sound dampening, I scrubbed them up really good. When they were done, they looked really good.

I ended up getting black floor mats which broke up all the tan in the cockpit. Now I really like it.

As far as "why are there so many FD's with tan interior", the same reason there were so many houses with **** carpet back in the 70's. It was "the thing to have" at that time. A lot of the Corvettes of that time (including my father's old Vette) had the same tan colored interior.

Right now, the most popular interior colors are: light gray & beige

In a few years, it will be different again.
