K&N's website says we should be using an HP1008. Do you know what the differance is by any chance?

Nope. All I know is the 1004 works fine. I assume it's larger in size but have never found a store in my area that carries the 1008 or can find the 1008 listed in their computers to special order.

The filter is in an easy place. Just reach in and twist off. I could never fathom spending over $100 to re-locate it. I would rather get like 30 new filters for that much.

You can use one of those band-type wrenches on it. Snake it in there and then pinch it so it will grip right away when you torque the handle.

I just put a K&N 1004 on my car. It has the nut thing on top and fits fine. I always use the larger filters for older rotaries (FC, I think) on the car.

It's way easier to change the filter than it is on my Integra.

I started to gather parts to relocate the filter but gave up. I had a spin-on bypass thing from Perma-Cool and a filter base from Racing Beat, I think. Instead of using lines coming out of the spin-on thing (I chose the Perma-Cool bypass because it had no connections on it), I was going to plumb it inline with the hose leading up to the filter area. I've got AN-10 SS oil lines, so it would be easy to plumb inline. I also found relocation attractive so I could mount temp and pressure senders in the remote mount (temp sensor has to be in the flow, but pressure can be at a dead end path). But I couldn't find any good place to put the filter mount, so I gave up. I'll be putting the pressure sender in the stock pressure sender hole, and I've got a Mocal temp sender block (with much too large a hole for my 1/8 NPT sender) that I will be modifying and plumbing inline. The big dual filter mounts allow you to use non-bypass filters and the filters for the single mounts allow you to at least use a big bypass filter. You can get the parts from Racing Beat or just about any race supply shop.

I gotta check autozone..

Have any of you guys tried this thing:

I am talking about the one with the bar. This is what I use along with a 1/2" ratchet and an extension. It works real well to loosen it up. Then I take it off by hand.

Yeah, I have used those and have one for the "unseen from hell" possibilities but find the giant filter socket easier to use.

you can get a single or dual oil filter relocation kitfrom jegs or summit racing. i ordered the one from jegs and am going to use braided steel line instead of the hose. the kit from jegs is like half as much as the greddy one. also when u change the filter if u start by punching a hole in the top with a scredriver or something then let it drain while u drain the oil it is alot cleaner and u get more oil out
