Why can't I shoot flames with PFC fuel cut?

I have heard that with open exaust and a PFC, you can shoot flames by turning the fuel cut option on the Rev/Idle page to 8000 rpm and blasting through a few gears. This basically stops the computer from cutting fuel when you let off the gas, sending raw fuel through the system. I turned all 3 FC settings to 8000 rpm and tried this about 10 times through 2nd and 3rd and it did not work. I did notice a very strong Latex paint smell(I know it sound funny) after each time, but no flamage. Has anyone tried this.

First of all your exhaust has to heat up to shoot flames, I am not sure exactly how long it takes but I assume at least 20-30 minutes. Backfiring doesnt necesarily mean your shooting flames, at least not visibly. Secondly, it has to be really dark out for you to be able to see the flames yourself driving the car, the only way I could tell was that I saw the side rails on the freeway lighting up. Those PFC settings are when your car is coasting, so if you were in third gear and were cruising at 80mph, then left off the gas, the injectors stay on, instead of 0 injector duty cycle, your going to be at like 13% injector duty, if you are going down a hill and coasting for awhile you can get some mean flames. Turning up those settings kills your gas mileage though, you can try just setting the one for electrical load if you have your AC on all the time or vice versa and you can just turn your AC on or off so you aren't dumping fuel out the back all the time. Hope that helps a bit.

I did the decel F/C. Right under Rev Limit. Raised all 3 to 8000rpm. I drove home for about 40 min in the dark with my girlfriend following me and nothing. I even tried it several times in a row to heat up the exhaust going through 2nd and 3rd. I know it was dumping the fuel cause I smelled a strange smell I have never smelled before, although I didn't think to check the injector duty. I have been told I shoot flames at the track naturaly by other drivers. It just seems very strange that it didn't work. I guess the exhaust has to be really hot to make it work. Has anyone ACTUALLY done it this way?

Try going on the freeway in like 4th gear and speeding up to 80-85 and letting off the gas, if your going down hill your car will just coast and then it should really shoot some flames, just look at my signature.

Yup. Did you actually rev out a gear, and then (instead of upshifting) back off at redline? I shoot flames naturally now......it's a PITA raising the decel f/c to 8000. You must really want to shoot flames

Wuss

Redline 4th (like 135mph or so but so what ), let off the gas, and keep it in gear.

What did I experience? How bout flames that were almost shooting above my wing

The guy I raced in his 951 (and beat ) said I belched out the biggest flames he had ever seen on a car

I gotta get this on video some day
