Whos using the Metal Front cover gasket?

I have one and I am in the process of putting my engine back together and I have a few questions.

-Do I need the back-up ring and oring?
-I do not need to use any silicone with the gasket right?

Why did you use the high tack sealer? Was this just used to keep it in place?

i used the teflon ring and o-ring, and just silicon, no gasket.

i would use a thin coat on the gasket, wont hurt nothing, for added protection.

Same as him I don't use the gasket but for silicon I use Permatex "The Right Stuff" that's what it's called. Guaranteed not to leak and not having the gasket keeps the o-ring secured better especially when you have 100+psi oil pressure.

I have the metal gasket, can of "the Right stuff" and the Regular Grey silicon.

I thought I remeber reading somewhere that the silicon would blow out with excess pressure, and out of the Front cover or oil pan, you would rather want the oil pan to blow. Which then it was something about using the gasket of rthe frontover. Something like that.

I am probably going to but a very thin coat of one of the silicons on the front cover and engine and use the metal gasket, if not that then just the metal gasket. To many damn options!!

So I just dried fitted everything and it seems there is interfernce with the back up ring/oring with the gasket. So I called rotorsports and they said not to use the back up ring/oring because it will not fit. BTW should I place silicon around the backup ring area aswell? or just on the outside lip?

I guess when mazda switched to the metal gasket there was no longer a need for the back up ring/oring. Personally aftering dry fitting it, it seems to me that is what Mazda decided to do (adding the "crush" area there). I am not sure if the Paper gasket covered that area, anyone confrim this?

I attached a picture of how it interferes, then one without it, and the last placing the ring on top so you can see where the OD of the ring falls in relationship to the "crush" area on the gasket.

You cannot fit the o-ring in place with the metal gasket! This was one of the design features of this gasket
