The 350z is beautiful. Oh and it out performs the G35 coupe. I don't like the rear lights of the G35

you guys are crazy!! the 350Z is a ******* boat, I recommended my friend buy one only because he was gonna get a WRX, and they have a lot less hp...but after considering it, I decided the WRX was better despite the less hp...the 350Z is a f'ugly boat!

For all you people saying the G35 is better...you do realize that they're both made by Nissan right? same platform, the 350Z is the sports model, the G35 is the luxury model.

The 350Z should NEVER be compared to the Rx7, and I'd preferably take the Rx8 over it any day...don't forget, that thing seats 4 too! if you're tired of having a fast car then get the rx8! not that ugly Nissan POS!!

350z is a very ugly car. Looks like they got half way there on the styling, and someone upstairs told them it had to be more "TT" like. The front nose opening is almost a perfect rectangle. Thats styling? It looks like they cut it out afterward with a yardstick and a boxcutter. Rear tailights are terrible. The G35 is better looking. Isn't it 3400 lbs as well?

From the side and front, the 350Z is a really nice car with great design, but the back is rediculously ugly. One needs to see it in person and understand how ugly it really is.

The interior also rates pretty high on the ugly scale, with a really ugly steering wheel. The manually adjustable column/gauges make the car feel like it costs half its price, and the seats don't really do it for me either. But the shifter is really nice...pretty crisp and short throws, almost comparable to an S2000.

The DOHC 3.5 liter V6 is a nice engine, however just like the S2000 again, it seems maxed out from the factory. I doubt NA mods like an intake, headers, exhaust, cams, etc., will show decent gains in power, so FI is the way to go for real performance. But one look under the hood, and you'll notice it is extremly cramped in there, so it will be interesting to see how some turbos will fit down there, given even the stock headers barely have enough room. Supercharging will also require a new hood, as seen in the Stillen pics above. But the one thing I like most about the engine is the exhaust note. It has an awesome V12-like scream once you open up the throttle. I can't wait to hear what one sounds like with full exhaust.

$30,000-$35,000 is better spent on an S2000 or hell, even an SVT Cobra, IMO.

You mean, "it barely touches 13's"? It's a very low-14 second car. Magazines have ran 14.0-14.1 @ 100-102. I have no doubt that someone can break into the 13s with some decent driving on the LSD-equipped, so it's a decent performer.

Well..the WRX barely touchs 13's...and it sure as hell doesn't cost 35,000 buckaroos...

I should know....

Same palatform but the G35 actually out handled the Z in according to Road & Track (I can hunt down the exact issue, page number if anyone's interested). I think the subtle styling differences of the G35 make it look a little better than the Z but everyone has their own tastes and preferences. The G35 could more accuratly be described as the "Grand Touring" model.

I wonder if it outhandled a base level Z or the fully loaded track model...I'm guessing the base level.

One difference to note: I believe the wheelbases of the 350Z and G35 are slightly different with the G35 being the longer of the two.

The interior in the 350 is terrible. The buttons, leather, and door panels (rubber??!) feel extremely cheap. I'd take the G35 over it for this reason alone. On second thought I think I'd pass on both and get a new BMW Z4 instead. That goofy looking bugger is starting to grow on me

I don't know man. The 350Z is definitely better looking in person. Very impressive. But, i'm but, i'm not sold on it's performance just yet. It all depends on what you want.

The new Z does not come close to the RX-8 or the RX-7

To each his own on the styling...

On the performance end, I would disagree that the 350z is a "boat". Might be a pig, but one that can corner pretty well.

There was a track version at the autoX I went to in October, and he was within one second of the fastest pair of WRXs there (one of these drivers finished in the top 15 in Topeka this year) and running on street tires.

I'd say that's pretty impressive. Granted, the WRX isn't exactly on rails, but its a fine autoX machine and does well on most courses. The Z was right there with it, prolly even better with some R compounds.

He was still a good three seconds off the fastest FD (which wasn't bone stock). Take two seconds off for tires, and you're looking at a close handling race here too.

Just food for thought.

Uh-oh.... another single turbo guy looking at a non-rotary. Blahsphemy! haha

I'm with you Ernie... I love the new Z/G35 coupe. Personally I'd go with the G35 (I think). I'm seriously considering one as a daily driver/company car.

Please! It looks like a modded Del Sol.

Not impressed at all and my first car and one I kept for 8 years through college and grad school was a '79 280zx so I'm not biased at Nissan (I own an Xterra too which I love).

I'd give that much for Crispy's R1 I'm gonna try build mine close to Cripy's and perhaps run close with sticky Hoosiers @ Mid Ohio

Seriously, ErnieT you gotta keep your FD, dude--it's way "cooler" than either the G35 or the 350Z. You know your car was a Motor Trend ICY back 1993 (Like Motor Trend's award means anything, right
