Question Who is using the Pettit Protek-R premix?

Seeing as how I drive the absolute **** out of my R1, I'm thinking of trying this stuff. It seems fairly inexpensive.

Comments, opinions?

I use it on occasion. It does smoke a little more I think as well as shooting flames more often. Could be a coincidence but I think it was the pre-mix.

I used it on my first engine every fill up since 5,000 original miles. When I pulled it apart at around 30,000 miles, there was hardly an carbon at all. It literally took about 30 minutes to clean the whole engine up and every still looked brand new (aside from the rotor housing that got killed from the apex seal). I cleaned up another engine that had similar miles on it but had never used the premix, and it literally took me hours to clean all the carbon and crap off the rotors. Needless to say I still use it every fill up.

I was using it almost every time I filled up. Thats was before my car went into the bodyshop 2 months ago. I just bought it by the case. It will only run you about $40.

I use it. The local 7 tech at the shop said that it is great for the engine, but never use it before a smog test.

He fantasizes about owning Ferraris, and so he fantasizes about people talking to him, too.

Oh on a side note, I use Mobil 1 Synthetic 2-Cycle oil.

i heard it straight from pettit technicians mouths, 2 stroke synthetic mix oil is the same stuff. i use the marine 2 stroke fully synthetic. gotta keep those apex seals as wet as possible. ive also stated the fact before, the only reason mazda doesnt release the official statement to the public to add the oil to your gas is b/c nobody would pass emisions tests. i use it about every third fill up.

I've used it before without any problems. I did hear that it is basically the same as 2 stroke oil though.

Unhappy Don't know why?

If your oil metering pump is working, why are you putting oil in the tank? I know the EK6 ECU disables the pump, so I understand those guys. Sorry, I just gon't get the point if the metering pump is doing its job.

That's the thing, it does it's job, but it's not exactly getting employee of the month. Adding oil to the gas adds a little extra lubrication to the engine, which obviously isn't a bad thing. Back to the employee analogy thing, would you rather have an employee that just does his or her job, or would you rather have one that absolutely excels at their job? Does the stock OMP work? Yes. But it's not the greatest at it's job (especially with the PFC which supposedly doesnt run the OMP to its full potential). The premix just helps it with its job. Think of it as an intern helping the employee do their job better.

ok, thanks

Ooh intern, yeah that analogy works for me "lol"
Better safe than sorry, doesn't hurt, more lube is allways better, etc.
