Who thinks this downpipe is better...
Hey! That's a Knightsports Twin Tube Front Pipe. It's suppose to have a better effect on increasing boost response. Not sure if it works but Mazdaspeed has one too I think. Matter of fact, I could be wrong and that might be a Mazdaspeed version. Regardless their both expensive, and they both look awesome. 10 points for rare factor if you ask me.
It is designed to pass by the steering column of an RHD layout.
I don't think it would be better. Better than pinching a single pipe - maybe, but not better than a single pipe without the pinch.

While I can't completely see the Knightsport pipe in their tiny picture, the other one doesn't appear to be designed as well as the KS pipe. Look at where the two pipes join; its a lot more abrupt than the KS design.
Good observation Mahjik. I do like the KS one better too!
So does anybody think there would be a performance gain/loss? It almost seems like where the tube splits there would be a bit of a loss because of the extra restriction, then again I'm no exhaust expert.

I think the original one is a work of art! Auto Exe sells it but they don't make it. I wanted one along time ago untill I figured it would be $1k shipped to USA.
If you really want improvement (less restriction/more boost), then get SMB's 3.5" DP and then their 3.5" MP and exhaust.

I'll bite!
1st impression:
I would say a loss in performance. The exhaust is 1st split coming from the rotor housing, then the pulses are joined together after the turbines (flange area), then they are split again post flange in the new downpipe just to be rejoined furthure down the exhaust pipe? All these transitions should have a negative effect on air flow.
Now my 2nd impression:
If this down pipe was re-engineered to have the twin downpipes actually purtrude into the turbo outlet itself, then I could see a performance gain. This would keep the exhaust pulses completely separete from the rotor housing all they way to the end of the down pipe. Almost like a well tuned NA down pipe.
Just because something looks nice doesn't mean it have a performance advantage.

On the regular DP you have about 5" wide on the smushed part then you squeeze to a 3" pipe. On the dual version you have two 2" pipes then converting to 3.5" (if I remember it correctly). I beleive that is a significant difference.
Is it alot better then a M2 3" all the way? Well, I can't say the difference would be, but they can't use a non-dented pipe on RHD cars.
I still say SMB 3.5" all the way. I love Revo-Tune stuff (have their AST) but they are expensive.
