Bought mine in March 1981. 'S' model... steel wheels and all. Wheels and rubber were my first 'mods'...in April 1981. Second was adding the factory cassette player and the foot rest.

FD for 9.5 years.

Drove the first Cym R1 to arrive in Houston, June 1992 I believe, was a Wednesday evening, was going back to purchase it on Saturday after convincing the wife. Come Friday our company laid off 90% of its staff so put the purchase on hold so ended up ordering an R2 with delivery on April 11, 1995, on regrets on missing the first. My first RX-7 was ordered on Halloween 1982 with delivery January 24, 1983. While still owning these RX-7’s and more I took delivery a few months back on the first 2012 Lotus Evora in the US; this is my second such car but first US spec and with supercharger and more. If the Evora S and FD could mate it would be one hell of a car. First interest in the RX-7 was 1980, first interest in Lotus was 1972, the path to both was through German, Italian, and British cars first.
