Come on people, we've already be chastised by rotorhead333 that this isn't that type of thread, and there are already plenty of other 100k+ mile threads to post in.

"special needs" after 100k? By the time you hit 100k on an FD most has been replaced already. Or should have been
165k on orig motor and what seems like more on int. driver side plastic. Oh, and the last time I replaced my"fuel anti-clogger" was 14k ago

I doubt it. Very few owners seem to do proactive maintenance on their cars these days.
And a strainer is a filter in a sense, works the same instead of spaghetti you filter out gunk. Sorry had to help batty out, Better tip on top of changing yours earlier is dont fill your gas tank at a gas stations when its getting or just after being refueled it kickes up all that crap at the bottom of the tanks like sluge and metal bits which all collects in you sock, strainer, or filter what ever you want to call it
so if you see a fuel truck you should just go to another station btw. Do people fill there tanks when the truck are there, yes and will kill your car to do so, no but doesn't hurt to do preventive maintenance and take precautions.
ps 89k on body 5k second motor damn jdm fuel differences

Colanders work better for spaghetti.

This is a popular myth. Where do you think the pumps draw fuel from? The bottom of the tanks...

Gas station pumps have filters of their own, BTW.

I wouldn't trust gas station filters.

A few years ago, my folks was traveling to southern cal. to visit my brother at college.

They swung by a Chevron station, filled up, drove a few miles and the engine stalled.

When they took it to the nearby Benz repair shop they had to drain out the fuel since there was enough **** floating around in there to clog 3 fuel filters.

Their Benz was just a little over 6 months old at the time with less than 5k miles on it.

Perhaps they filled up gas right after a tanker dropped of a deposit...........

gas stations that see low traffic are more prone to that problem (oxidation of the tanks)

having supervised the removal of a few USTs, it's amazing how nasty that get without cathodic protection....the newer systems are pretty good though

Since gas station tanks are regularly refilled, wouldn't the number of people who would have their fuel filters clogged by "crap floating in the fuel" be staggering? Think about it.

All it takes is a simple test. The next time your local station's tanks are refilled, fill a clear 1 gallon milk jug with fuel. $20 says there's nothing floating around in it unless you didn't wash out the milk jug first.

I got my info from my auto teacher and I would belive it, arent these gunky filters proof? The reason theres not "staggering" amount of peole is because there all running filter so it collect all that crap; Filling you tank with a truck there wont kill your car just block your filter quicker then going to the next station down the line.

He's as prone to repeating misinformation as anyone else.

Take the Pepsi challenge and go fill a gallon jug with freshly "churned" gas. My $20 is waiting.

It could have been just bad luck or lack of filter.

The gas station was in the middle of nowhere, but there were a few cars there......... no tumble weeds, however.

Filling a milk jug is against the law.
