I do and many of you might want to look into replacing:

Fuel strainer (mines were partially clogged)

inner/outer tie rods - replaced these and the car feels more like a go cart.

Read the post first monkey. This forum has gotten to be **** with everyone so ready to jump on someone for a double post etc. Your link has nothing to do with the subject matter that Mikey is referring to except the "mileage".

Good points mikey, thanks!

The idea is that certain problems not normally covered in a FD or any car with less then 100k miles should be brought to people's attention so that others can benefit from a potential knowledge-base.

well, not quite 100k. 99,500 so I will be there in a couple weeks.

My tie rods feel loose so I will need new ends very soon. I also think my front right wheel bearing is going. The rear pillow ball bushings were just horrible so they were replaced last summer, along with the toe links a couple months back and the sway bar end links.

I think my drivers door handle is getting good and worn, it is starting to get a bit stiff to lift. Other than that it is all typical maintenance items..

Whats the fuel strainer? Is there a screen on the fuel rail or is that the sock on the pump in the tank?

Most people call it a fuel filter, and it should be replaced far more often than every 100k miles, especially on a car as fuel-dependent as the FD.

I bet 99% of the FD owners ONLY replace their fuel filter and don't even know (or consider) that they should replace the strainer.

It's the "first" line of defense before the fuel filter sees any gunk.

I should have saved mines when I had it replaced and post a pic of it on here.

The mesh was clogged pretty bad.

When it was pulled out it took at least TWICE as long for the gas to drain completely out when compared to a new strainer.

This thread will probably save a few engines.

Strainer? There is a pre-pump filter (the "sock" or mesh bag on the pump inlet) and a post-pump filter (the metal cannister-style filter above the differential). Both are fuel filters. A strainer is something you pour spaghetti in to get rid of the water.

This thread will probably save a few engines.
I doubt it. Very few owners seem to do proactive maintenance on their cars these days.

The Malloy Mazda guy calls it a strainer......... something about a sock sounds just dirty compared to a strainer.

Take the plate off the inner side of the door handle and lubricate the latch mechanism. It will work so nice afterwards. It's just a couple of 10mm nuts and some penetrating oil/lubricant and that will save you from having to buy a new one. It will take you all of 5 minutes to do.
