Who fits in an FD?

I have been thinking about getting an FD3S RX-7 for a while now, but there is always one thought in my mind. Can I drive it? By that I mean can I physically fit into the seat. I am about 6'5" and 280lbs. Needless to say I am a big *** guy. Cars that I can't/don't like driving Porsche anything, Honda S2000, BMW Z3, and anything else about that size. I can fit into the Viper, Vette and anything American made...The FD looks pretty small to me but I could be wrong... So could you guys/gals tell me how big you are and you you like/dislke driving the car.. Thanks
Jeremy

To be honest, I doubt it. I'm about 6 foot and 170 lbs and I fit just right. If I was any taller however, it would be an ugly situation. Try one out sometime to get the feel for it. I certainly don't want to put someone off buying an RX7...

i'm 6'4 about 230 pounds...i just barely fit...but leg wise only. The wheel is so ****** big that it really bothers my shifting...i think as long as you get the wheel extension and a race wheel you'll be fine

I have a friend who is 6' 4" and with a NON sunroof car and a racing seat he fits perfectly.
Most racing seats will be 1 - 2 inches lower than stock seat.

yeah. i had a friend who was around 6'5", and he owned two rx7s (yellow R1 and a red R1-both 93s). But with the R1s its a little better, because the seats are lower and there is no sunroof. he said he fit just fine.
he had the rx7s for maybe 3 years.

he now drives the old model of the bmw M3.

why dont you go and test drive an rx7 before you make a decision.

i am 5'7" and i fit perfectly in the car, but sometimes when i go out for long drives my back starts to hurt big time. and the suspension is so stiff that the car will move up and down with all the bumps so you gotta watch your head.

Good Fit

I am 5'7" and I fit in an FD just fine...but I would like to point out the larger you are, the more trouble you will have getting in and out of the car. So if you are going to drive this car every day, or every other day, you may get tired of it if you're much taller than 5'9".

After a long ride, I find it hard to get out of.

I'm 6'3", and 250lbs. I fit snugly, and have no head room issues even with a sunroof.

I would imagine you'll have some fitting issues with an FD. It really depends on where all your height and weight are located as to how well you'll fit.

If you REALLY want an FD, you'll probably at least need to lower the stock seats to the floor or use aftermarket seats (sunroof or not) and an aftermarket steering wheel for comfort.

I am 6'4/6'5 or somethin and im gonna be gettin a car in the next 6-9 months. I have been looking into everything from a sportscar M3/Supra/FD to a 4 door sedan like a Legacy/Protege/Sentra to a SUV like a Pathfinder. Whichever way I go im trying to optimistically assume I will have around a 30k budget (i see this as a 20k car with 10k mods or a 30k car etc...) and since I live in CT, if I went with one of the sports cars I would have to either have a second car for the winter, or keep my dying car I have now and be prepared to spend $$ on repairs. The biggest thing im looking for in a car is something I can mod to make it look badass, and a little hp to backup to look wouldnt hurt but im not speed crazy......

That having been said, in addition to my love for the fd (looks, power, uniqueness) I had counted in as a big pro the headroom/legroom they have, although I have not sat in one and when I stand next to them they look like go-carts, the measurements were impressive. here is a little spreadsheet I put together of the headroom legroom and combined head and legroom of some of the cars I was considering........ http://www.rit.edu/~cjd6114/rx/carz.htm
the 91 mx6 is in there cuz its what I drive now.....
I HATE BEING SO TALL!!

That kinda sucks, because when I sit in an S2K my legs hit the wheel too, more so when I try to work the clutch though. All in all though I can fit if I try, but it isn't comfortable at all. If I get an FD like I plan on getting one, it won't be daily driven, so I guess I'll have to try one on, and if I like it, I'll make it fit. Thanks for your imput everyone.
Peace
Jeremy

I think all the fd need is a stearing weel tilt,a suport for the left arm,a smaller stearing weel, and lower seating position. or you can buy a removable stearing weel.

One of my good friends is 6'6" 295 he is very tight in it has to have the sunroof open in my 93 Rex. His only Bitch is the size of the sterring wheel messes with his shifting. Hes pusing me to get a sparch sterring wheel cuz he said he drove one and it was quite comfortable.
im not planning on it .keep him from takin my car.

I'm about 5'2" so the car was pretty much made for me.. I can stretch out and still have room behind the seat for a bag. But my friend that is 6'2" sat in there and looked pretty squashed. He didnt complain too much but he just looked silly. His knees were on the sides of the steering wheel. You never know.. try one on before you make a decision.

How the hell do you NOT put the seat back all the way? I have two friends, 1 6'4" and the other is 6'0" and both of them put the seat back...I thought that I was the only guy on the forum who put their seat FORWARD...

...being that I'm 5'4"...and 140 lbs of pure muscle...

....and 20 lbs of fat on top
