I drive mine daily, in the Inland Empire, which gets pretty hot compared to the rest of SoCal. The car is bone stock and hasn't given me any problems. Here's the maintenance I've performed last year:

Oil change every 1-2k miles , new oil filter every 2-4k.
Spark plugs every 5k.
Coolant change every year, usually in spring (approx. 70/30 water/glycol mix)
Fuel filter every 15-20k (same time as coolant change, while the car is in the air).

I also changed the accessory belts last summer, they were looking pretty ragged.

Right now my rear suspension bushings are worn, I'm hoping to get them taken care of this summer.

So I threw in loads more money, a rebuilt motor from tripoint, and tons of reliability mods and now she's back and believe me... I no longer drive it like a maniac while daily driving. I get on the boost once or twice each day and sometimes not at all. Before my last oil change last week, I thought to myself (finally) the car is running great! Except for the engine light that just turned on for a sec or two then was gone. After the oild change was done, and the mechanic checked out the engine light which was flashing an 11. Now it turns out that another grand is what's needed to bring her back again even though she is currently still driving great! I WILL do the repairs but damnit I must save up again.
Wow 1k to fix the intake air thermosensor?

i drive mine whenever i need to go somwhere, but living on a college campus i can walk most places. I probably put about 10 miles on it a week + the 450 mile round trips to home every 6 or so weeks.

Im pretty sure im stayin under 10k a year, which means i should have my new motor for at least a few more months.

I purchased my car in November 2004 with 90K+ miles and blew the engine about 2-months later.

Thanks goodness it came with a new motor (yes, NEW, 30-50 miles on it) from Mazda.

I did all the reliability mods, and I drive her EVERY day that is not raining, unless I want to take my motorcycle (Kawasaki Concours) or my Mercedes AMG wagon.

She's a "touring" model, so perfect for the rough roads and humidity of Florida. I also take her to track days at Roebling Road Raceway, and autocross her every month.

By driving her daily, I'm starting to really understand her handling and performance limits as well as idiosyncrcies.

I got my FD in October last year, and in that time have put just under 7000km of daily driving on it. My only problems have been two minor coolant leaks. One was a cracked radiator drain plug (damaged during a coolant change) and the other was a bad clamp I used in my water temp sender install in the TB coolant line.

As the other guys say, if you look after it properly (which face it, most FD owners love looking after their car so it's hardly a chore) you won't have any problems other than what you would expect for a 12 year old performance sports car.

I love the ritual of checking oil/water etc every morning before work.......

I have a serious need to drive my FD daily. It just snowed and the last two days I've been bouncing around in my expedition trying to get the tail out but its just not the same LOL
