The Bullet car in the 25 hr. race had our full setup as well...look at the pics and you'll clearly see our calipers.

 

By full setup, do you mean the same calipers and same aluminum pistons that are in the new 3rd Gen RX-7 kit? Are all of the StopTech racing cars running with aluminum pistons?

 

Hmm, OK, my bad . For some reason, I don't recall seeing the referral to the ST-40 calipers when I originally read that press release. And I neglected to look at the photos carefully.

 

The parts are EXACTLY the same. Yes, they all use aluminum pistons. The piston bores (size of pistons) may be different from what the RX-7 is going to use (don't know off top of head), but the components are all off of the 'same line.' We don't differentiate between race and street kits. Our race kits are our street kits. They are streetable race components really.

 

Typically, the aluminum pistons are swapped out for SS pistons for less heat transfer to the fluid. From the info you just provided, it looks like the aluminum pistons are OK in this application. I think most track junkies would be running high quality brake fluid anyway.

As I said before, you'll be getting my order, once I can swing enough allowance out of the wife ( ) to also upgrade to 17" wheels.

About the same relevence as posting you can buy your RX7 brakes from a online nissan performance shop on a RX7 forum run by the same guy who runs a online RX7 performance store thought that was pretty obvious.

 

I don't see what the problem is. Just giving the RX7 owners more resources to purchase from.

 

At first I was being kinda silly,(wink), but since you wanna be so defensive about it, I'll just leave it alone out of respect for the other vendors on here, but I certainly wouldn't go in someone elses back yard and recommend other places to go.

They compare the stoptech kit for the 350z vs the stock brembo's and the base model brakes, good read.

 

I know of several people who run Stop Teck rotors in racing and are very happy with the heat dissipating characteristics. I DON'T know about the calipers in racing applications but have seen 1 apart and was satisfied with the tolerances. ( I checked ) I will be purchasing a kit in the not too distant future because they are reasonablely priced and rebuild kits, calipers are readily available and cheap according to a previous post by J Ritt (Standard caliper and rotor ).

J Ritt - I do hope you pulled some strings and are working on a rear KIT

 

Rear kit might lose parking brake capability

 

Just goes to show that the rear brake doesn't have enough significant differance to warrant another $2000.00 IMHO.

 

Not only that but show how much better the stoptech kit dissipates heat over the brembos, and the superior balance of the front and rear.

Hey,
I was checking out the wheel fitment template on the Stop Tech site, and when printed out, the width of the rotor seems accurate, but the diameter would only be 12.25" (312 mm)instead of 13" (332 mm) based on a measurement of 6.125" from the centerline. Are we really sure this is accurate?

Any updates on the kit?

 

I believe it is being test fitted on fumanchu's fd as we speak.

 

Im not to sure about the quality of Stop-Tech.
Maybe this is a rare case, but my friend just went through his 2nd pair of rotors due to cracking. This is on a lighly modded WRX with good tires. I mean, I dont know the first time they replaced them free of charge not sure about this 2nd time.

What type of rotors did he have? Under what conditions did the cracking occur?

 

I'm with Rage and Artowar:

*were the rotors cross-drilled?
*what kind of pads were used?
*how many track events/miles?

BTW, I've personally decided to just get the 99+ RS/RZ brakes all around for now. For less than $2k from Mazda Motorsports, you get 12.4" rotors all around with new calipers, mounting hardware, and even pads. Best of all, everything's OEM.

 

My only problem with either the RZ's or the Mandevilles (which are virtually the same thing in the end) is pad choice. RZ's and OE use the same pad shape, and many of the better pad compounds aren't available... particularly the best ones: PFCs. With the standard Stop-Tech (or Wilwoord, Brembo, AP, etc.) the world is your oyster... any pad you want. Available anywhere.

Anyway, test-fitting or not, the diagram on the website is wrong if they are using the 13"/332mm rotor as they say. and they don't make a 312mm rotor... so using the tempate to test wheel compatability isn't really valid.
