Question white face gauges installation

Alright, well i just ordered white face gauges for my dash from NR automotive a couple days ago and have yet to recieve them. I know some of you have installed these in your own fd's and was wondering how to take off the hull to the center console gauge mounts (speedo, tach, oil press.,fuel, etc.). I took a good look at a wrecked fd's dash and it looks as though the plastic console piece just lifts straight up and snaps out. Is this correct? And once this is accomplished is it just a matter of removing the old faces and putting the new ones on or do i need to position the white faces on top of the old black ones? I would appreciate ANY feedback to this, as any info would help, im just not convinced NR auto will include directions for a 93 FD.

the directions with the faces only give a generic description of how to pull off the needles and install the faces. i'd suggest doing a search on the interior mods forum for "white face" and you'll find lots of old posts regarding this subject. here is what they look like installed though:

Awww ... damnit. I could've sold you the white faces that I have for a lot cheaper than you paid, I'm sure.

Anyways ... I'm not sure what you're refering to, but OK ... the entire guage cluster canopy thing has some crazy fishhook clips that hold it it -- three of them. In the shop manual it looks like they slide directly towards the driver and pop out ... that's the theory. Some cars that happens, some like mine they are fishhooked in there and it shatters the guage cluster canopy. It's aiight, I glued it back together, filled it, and refinished it and no one could ever tell unless they saw the layers of epoxy underneath. I squeezed those fishhook clips so now it slides right out.

Don't let that scare you, I guess ... I just wanted to warn you what can happen and make you cry. I tried and tried with a long screwdriver and they just wouldn't come out.

Once you get the entire thing loose, you have to get really patient and flexible and undoor the harness clips to the guage cluster. I think the guage cluster is held in by a couple of screws or something ... but it's straight forward and it comes right apart once you have it out.

OK ... well it seems that I've gotten a PM from just about everyone who has viewed this thread since my reply asking about my guages for sale. I think they're sold, and I have a long list of backups, so if no one else could PM me about them that'd be great! Thanks!

one word of advice don't do it! I have yet to hear of anyone getting their gauges calibrated properly after doing this. If someone knows the trick let me know

time and lots of patience. if you remove the little black pins that r on the faces of the guages (this is where the needle rests at 0) then you can see the full range of the needle. then just put it back on with the same range

Mine work PERFECT, BUT I will NEVER, EVER, EVER, try to install them again!, I went through 3 tachs trying to get it right, finally I got it, and they worked perfectly, but I will never attempt this mod to anyone that asks me to, it's just too easy to mess up and too hard to get it working properly.
