where to put new FPR?

Im in the process of reinstalling my freshly rebuilt engine. I remove the fuel pulsation damper and replaced it with a fitting. Apparently, it is important that the new FPR is mounted as close to the fuel rail as possible to negate the effects of fuel pulsation with the damper removed.

Ive outfitted the FPR with a gauge and without having the engine installed, it is hard to determine exactly where I can fit the FPR with gauge and not have clearance issues and still have access to adjusting the FPR and reading the gauge.

I had contemplated mounting it to the firewall directly behind the UIM sitting below the ledge and brake lines and running a hose connected to the FPR where the gauge would normally connect underneath the UIM thus putting the gauge in the front of the UIM where it could be read.

Anyway, any ideas or comments would be appreciated. The FPR is a Turbosmart 800.

Thanks,
Chuck

So, there must be at least a few folks that have installed an after market FPR somewhere on the cars?

Did you search? Using FPR in the search function brings up a ton of threads for me. Most people either build a bracket and connect it near the UIM or off the side by cruise control.

Yes, I did search, but did not find any info that both covered location and potential issues with the elimination of the fuel pulsation damper and placement near the fuel rails. Also, whether there would be adequate space with the pressure gauge mounted on the FPR if I located it behind the UIM. I can build a bracket if the included bracket doesnt work.

Thanks for the feedback!

I considered this location in your pics but again is my concern about the effects of proximity to the fuel rails with the fuel pulsation damper removed.

Thanks for the info and pics.

This is exactly what I was thinking about doing. Now that Ive seen an actual installation, probably the way I will go. Thanks for the info.

i mounted min right on the fuel rail like the factory fpr was fitted. you just need an adapter fitting. it fits perfect, and there is still room to adjust it easily

Looks good?

To me a FPR isn't an engine dress up accessory. I personally think it looks better out of the way and not in your face when you open the hood. How often do you really need to adjust your fuel pressure?

I like it here, steel braided lines are bad at chafing anything they touch. Functional and simple to build.

Yes, IMO it looks good. I don't adjust very often but I like to be able to see the gauge whenever I want to. If you like yours hidden more power to you.
