Where the heck are you supposed to add coolant

alright i turned my key, not started it, after about 15 minutes worth of driving and then noticed that the stock water temp gauge was at an angle towards the white line on the h area, and when i started it dropped slightly closer to the normal area, whats up with that? and when i shut the car off and checked my over flow resevoir the car coolnat level was at f on the stick, so whats going on here?

Fill it under the pressure cap. NOT on the AST, but the left yellow butterfly cap you see under the hood. This will fill the radiator, not the overflow tank like you're checking. But if you're overheating, check your thermostat and make sure you're not leaking or hoses are blocked.

where is the thermostat located? and the overflow tank is the tank right behind the passenger side headlight correct?
