Where to get a replacement harness connector?

So here's what happened:

I pulled the motor on my FD, upon stripping the long block, I broke one of the wires on the driver's side harness right by the connector for the alternator. There isn't enough wire sticking out of the plug to splice another in there. I could try soldering a wire in but I would rather try to source a new connector. It's the 2-prong connector that plugs directly into the alternator.

If anybody can lead me in the right direction to find a replacement, I would be very appreciative.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Post a wanted thread in the parts section for an alternator pigtail. There are plenty of people who have old harnesses that can clip the connector off and sell it to you. Good luck. G

I have a harness I purchased for having for replacing various connectors but alas...that connector is gone.
As G said...someone will more than likely be able to hook you up for a nominal fee.

I'm sure if you can't find it on this forum you can always go to your local junk yard and find an alternator connector off another mazda or japanese cars. The alternator connector should be standard and easy to find along with other BASIC connectors you might need, just look around other mazda models around the same era/year. The only time you run into issues with finding suitable connectors is if it is a special sensors or switch that is only used on a RX7. Just try to get as much wire as they will allow you to get and you are good to go.

Yep, that connector was used on a TON of '90s Mazdas. Just hit up the pick-and-pull junkyard, you can get a handful of them.

I've also found 626's (I think) have the exact same TPS connector.

If you can't find the exact connector, you can also "de-pin" these connectors, de-pin a connector with similar inserts, splice that wire in, then re-pin your connector with that one.

The only thing is it'll have to be a similar connector, as the female spade insert in the alt connector was pretty odd IIRC.

You need a fine pick like a dissection pin. I re-did a few roasted connectors on my car like this.

Worst case, those terminals on the alternator are simply male spade terminals (IIRC), so you might be able to get away with splicing female spade connectors onto the harness and plug them into the alt, granted you get them in the same orientation they were originally. If you try this, write down what the orientation of each color wire first.

I have a 626 I get "donor" bolts, relays, and other various parts from. I'll take a look and see if its the same. I know the tps is the exact same looks but I'm not sure about the electrical specs on it. I always wanted to try it out...

Thanks guys, all good ideas! I'll try the junkyard. If all else fails, I'll post a thread in the wanted section.

Thanks, if you have one that isn't 'too' brittle, I'll buy it off of you.
