Where is the fresh air intake for the HVAC?

I can't seem to figure out where it is from the workshop manual. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

If I remove the cowl can I stick a hose from a vacuum cleaner down there? I have terrible mold smell coming from the HVAC. What's the best way to clean without removing the dash?

Thanks!

You know how water drips from a car when the a/c is running? I bet your drip line is clogged! This causes the stinky smells. You can fix this issue under the car I believe.

AC hasn't worked for years, so I'm pretty sure it's not the drip line, but I'll check... Where does the line come out?

line should be somewhere near the firewall, passenger side. You might be able to pull the cowl and vacuum some down there...

Please note a ton of junk can get in throw that cowl: Leaves, animals, etc. You can pull the (part name escaping me at the moment) off below the passenger side by removing 3 screws which allows you to clear out all the crap that has gotten in there. Easy, 15-20m job depending on how large and/or flexible you are.

Does anybody have a pic or a diagram of what Gringo is talking about?

Thanks!

Tried to find a diagram, but couldn't find anything of use. Sometimes you can just get in the passenger floor board and see what would easily come off, and find the crud that way. On one car I just pulled the blower fan off and cleaned out everthing in the squirel cage and nearby vents. It was at this moment I discovered a mouse made hole on my fresh air flap! Those little f*#$&*!

The Blower Box/Motor whatever you call it is what I was looking for. Look beneath and behind your glove box. There are 3, 8mm sockets that hold it in place IIRC. Pull it out and chances are it is full of crap.

Pictures of it are somewhere within the first couple posts in this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/v-8-powered-rx-7s-299/mississippi-fd-383ci-forged-ls1-stroker-build-971046/page3/

Gringo, I can't figure out where the 3 x 8mm sockets are. Do I have to remove the glove compartment? Does anybody have a better picture of how I can get in there?

Thanks!
