Where to find custom radiator??

Well, my radiator just bit the dust and needs to be replaced. I am looking for an all aluminum radiator with the following dimensions:

26.5 wide X 17 inches tall X 3 inches thick.

I need the outlet on the upper right and the exit on the bottom left. Any advice? The one in the car was put on by Pettit Racing during my three rotor conversion and is custom in its size. I'll call them Monday but I though maybe you guys would know of a source. Need this ASAP so I appreciate the help.

FYI - it needs to be pretty much the above size or we have some fabrication to do which I am trying to avoid.

Yes, but I doubt they can do it for delivery in a few days. I need this in the car by Thursday at the latest.

You are better off calling local radiator shops then.

77 Corvette right except 2 inches deep
I saw the Vette ones but the problem is the location of the inlet and the outlet. I need a top right passenger side inlet and a bottom left driver's side outlet. The STI ones would work if they were thicker. Gordon, do you know what you are running on your car?

Yes, this was my first stop but unfortunately nothing that meets the above specs with the proper inlet and outlet locations.

10 days is too long if I want to make the car show this Saturday. Might have to go this route though and skip the show. I could push the car into the show viewing area and sit in it and make "zoom zoom" sounds

Why rush something as important as a radiator so you have your car ready for some car show? You obviously haven't cut any corners thus far, so why start with such a critical part.

Think it through, order the custom Griffith to your EXACT specs, and keep this thing happy.

You are correct about this. I'll make sure to get the right part but IF that could happen this week it would be great. If not, no car show.

^Correct! David, call griffen and give them your dimensions, core type, end-tank size, flow type, in-out location and thickness etc. They will make you one and you can have it overnighted.

Well, after spending all day on the phone looking into this, I finally ended up ordering one from www.alumrad.com. It will be custom made to our specs and delivered by this Thursday.

I tried all the others (Pettit Racing, Ron Davis, PRC, Wakers Race Mart) and a bunch of others I can't even remember now but they were all at least 5-6 weeks out. I spent a lot of time on the phone with Griffin and although they are very nice, I just couldn't get them to help me. I was told to call back multiple times only to be told the person I needed wasn't available. You snooze you loose I guess.

So, my radiator will be delivered this Thursday and we'll see if I make the car show by the weekend. And FYI - I didn't sacrifice quality for timeliness - just was able to get both so I am happy about that.

It was quite the bitch I tell you. I think the hot weather has made radiators fail and the companies that sell them less responsive due to overwhelming demand.

I could imagine the headache of looking for a company that would do it for you in the little amount of time, at least there are still shops out there that would bend over backwards for a customer.

Yep, the main priority was to find a company that had the right product and then, who could do it in time for Gordon's meet at the end of August. It was a bonus that AlumRad could do it right now. I paid a little extra for that so we'll see.

David, here is a pic of a 3" thick radiator I had a few years ago for my 20b swap. I bought it from RedRx7 back in 2003 before he went the MVA Motorsports route. It was designed for the Pettit Banzai / Alamo Rotary conversion. It's designed to fit that upper cover you have. Those two shops should be able to provide you with another unit.

^With the exception of the height that is it. Mine is 17.75 inches tall and we don't have any more room with the positioning of everything else in the car.

We also swapped the inlet to the driver's side for ease of radiator hose positioning. Now I won't have a hose running thru my turbo ram jet intake box.

Man are these guys fast. They completed my radiator in 24 hours and it is now on the way to Kilo Racing for delivery on Thursday. This is how customer service should be. Two thumbs up for www.alumrad.com!
