Where does this part go?
Guys,
I searched the forums for this part, but I don't know exactly where it goes, or what it is. And this was the best forum to ask, as far as I could tell. So it's hard to search for it. I'm hoping somebody on here recognizes it, and can tell me, and show me (picture) where it goes on the FD. In the pictures, it's the part on the right.
FYI - I bought the car with a crap front end on it, after having hit a telephone pole. Luckily, there was a bunch a spare parts with the car, and it didn't do much damage beyond the bumper, hood, and bumper support parts.
I'm thinking this thing sits up next to the radiator, or oil cooler, or A/C condensor due to the foam on the side of it. But where and how it fits, I haven't been able to figure out.
I would host the pictures on photobucket, but photobucket get's blocked here at work. So I'm attaching them.
This is the last thing I have to figure out before I button the car up and send it out for painting!!! Any help is greatly appreciated.
The part on the right.

the piece on the left is one of the factory side skirt type of thing that goes on the bottom of the car right before the rear tire. had some for sale in the link below with a pic of where they fit if you want to take a look. Not sure on the second piece.

Thanks Ali ... but I figured those out a few days ago. Funny thing is, I was trying to figure out where they went in the front end! Because that's where my car was damaged, and the good (spare) parts that were yanked off (when putting the crap front end on) came from the front end. I finally thought, heck I'll check the back end too, and found where they went.

Hmmm. Well, it had (what I was told was) a Pettit intake on it when I bought it. But that pan was never on the car. I removed the "Pettit" intake and put the stock air box back on. May go back with the Pettit later. It's possible that after the car hit the telephone pole (before I bought it) that the pan was removed, cause like I said, that pan has not been on the car since I bought it.
Is there anyway you or somebody could show me a picture? Unless you have one, I'm guessing it may not be possible. I'm going to search the Pettit site and see if I can come up with anything. Thanks.

Found the pan on Pettit...
Now to figure out how it fits in place ... guess I'll wind up putting the Pettit intake back on.
Thanks, it's amazing what you guys on this site know!
On edit: Sorry to beat this thread to death, but I found on the Pettit side a pitcture of how the pan is supposed to be attached. I'm attaching that picture too. So, looks like I'll be going home and installing this pan with the Pettit intake tonight!
I guess that's the end of this thread. Thanks for your help, I would have never figured this out!

I installed the pettit intake last night, and pettit heat shield. I didn't really see grooves on the fan shroud ... just the fan shroud itself. It looked like Pettit's intention may have been to insert a short portion of the heat shield inside the endge of the fan shroud. But I didn't do it that way, and it appears that it will stay in place anyway.
But FD3Smaniac - if it's not too much trouble, could you look at yours down by the fan shroud and see if that short edge is inside or outside of the fan area? Thanks.
And while digging the Pettit stuff out of the parts box, I found another part. It's looks like an aluminum suspension component. I took a picture of it last night. I'll attach it soon. Hopefully that's the last dang part that I don't know what it is, or where it goes.

Thanks, I'll tuck those short edges in.
The Pettit intake was installed on the car (without the heat shield) when I bought the car. I didn't (and wouldn't) purchase it myself. I'll be honest, it looked like crap, so I yanked it out and put in the stock airbox. The stock airbox takes up all the room available, but it at least looks nice (to me).
Now with the heat shield in place, it looks slightly less crappy, but if the Pettit intake does serve a purpose ... well, I'll leave it in. I can't imagine it being much cooler intake air than the stock airbox though, but I've been wrong before ... once.
If you don't mind telling me, what are you doing for an intake these days?

Last part found in the box...
Here is the part I was found in the box. It's some kind of aluminum linkage or bracket. It's pretty nasty so I'm thinking it's from the engine area, or bottom of the car. Thanks.
