My dealer can get me in new for $1288. Anyone got the inside # to an aftermarket carpet manufacturer? Maybe if we bombard them with calls they'll stamp out an aftermarket piece.

I think he means the interior carpet not the hatch.
The cheapest place I have seen to get the carpet is through Mazdacomp, but you need to be a registered racer with them. Only takes two autox events.

Gordon had more threads about it....just search for "carpet" under "gmonsen" in both the interior and 3rd gen forums.

Heard it was a real pain to get the carpet out, like you had to remove the dash or something, is that true? I'd love to replace my brown carpet with black, but if I have to take the whole car apart may be less inclined. if we could get a group buy together and get the cost to $350 or so I'd go for it. I figure they must need a floor pan to mold it, right? maybe someone with a trashed body shell would sell the pan (cheap?)to the carpet manufacturer, then they'd have no excuse!

Taking the dash out makes it tons easier. Plus it isn't that hard to do. Just seems intimidating at first. Also, you DON'T have to take the heater core or fan assembly out. Do a search. There is a step by step write up.

Does anyone have the factory manual on the RX7. I want to figure out how to remove all my tan trim and convert it to black. I bought a ton of black interior pieces and now I just need to figure out how to remove everything.

On the thread that Rynberg posted there is a number for the shop that did gmonsen's carpet. Would anyone else be interested in perhaps doing a group buy? I imagine they kept their patterns...most shops do. I'm interested in this shop because it's already established that they do quality work.
I'll also be checking around locally in a few months after my paint is done. It'll be plenty easy for me since my interior is almost completely ripped out right now.

OK I contacted ACC a minute ago & someone beat me to it. Fess up who are you? Roger left you a voice mail. Answer him quick. Looks like its do-able. For starters they will need a car to make the mold from. I left Roger w/ACC a voice mail. We need to band together on this one. This could be a VERY large group buy I would suspect.

I would be very interested too....keep this thread updated.
After I get my carpet out I am going to go around locally and see how much the local interior shops want to duplicate mine in black.

list start
It looks like they have carpet for the first gen. for $197.17. None listed for the 2nd or 3rd gen.
iforged is right lets make a list.
Darksideperformance/1993/black or red (depends on ability to match interior color)
send me a pm and I'll add you, unless someone else really wants to handle this I'll add it to my to do list
If they don't have one for the 2nd, I'll work on that one also. I'm going to call them again today. Again, ACC told me that someone had already called about this. If this person wants to take over here then pm me & I'll hand it over, but I need carpet so I'm pursuing this with a vengence.

Did anyone ask what the minimum buy-in is? I don't think they are going to make the mold (see image) for anything less than 100 units. I could be wrong, but the molds look like a big investment on their end.
