You haven't heard about Ray Crowe by now? He owns an FD and runs a Mazda parts warehouse.

I did something on the drain gaskets a few months ago that might be worth sharing.
Since these things were rather expensive when having to replace 4 of them I cleaned mine with either mineral spirits or denatured alcohol - can't remember and then shot both sides with copper spray. I let one side dry for a while turned it over onto a piece of waxed paper and shot the other side. After it dried folded the waxed paper over them to keep until ready to install. Stuff stays a bit tacky, therefore the waxed paper was needed.
A couple of hundred miles since - no leaks.
I started to buy new ones, thinking that they were paper but they were actually thin metal.

That's definitely a Mazda-only part. The updated gasket is a metal gasket that works EXTREMELY well and lasts damn near forever.
Don't get hasty and just use RTV, get the right part from Mazda. No leaks.
