Where to buy 3" exhaust gasket?

Hi gang,

I'm having difficulty finding a 3" ID metal exhaust gasket for my high flow cat and RB exhaust. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Chris

Enlarge a 2"

I had trouble finding a 3" gasket also. I just purchased the largest gasket I could find (2") and enlarged the opening to 3". Simple, effective, and much cheaper than a 3".

Exhaust gaskets for a JEEP are exactly the same as ours. You can get them at any generic auto parts store, and they're CHEAP. DON'T waste the time or the money ordering them online.

Not sure--just tell them a 3in Jeep exhaust gasket. Bring them in your old fried one to compare--you'll recognize it immediately, though.

I stopped using gaskets 5 years ago. I use high temp ultra black silicone and it works great and never blows out.

Yep, and there's also a putty that you can roll between your hands and make a "snake", Press it in place on your flange and you have an awesome exhaust seal that you can easily remove when the time comes. You only need to make your "snake" 3/8" thick. More like a "worm". Torque it down slowly and even and you are good to go.

Mmmmmmmm...worm putty. So where do you find it, in the exhaust section? Is it putty specifically for exhaust?

I tried the silicone on the downpipe-to-exhaust flang on my turbo Miata once. If the surfaces are perfectly matched or perfectly flat it will work ok, but I had a few small spots of blow-through. Plus it was a pain to scape off when I did get some gaskets.

you can get some copper RTV for the exhaust at autozone, or pretty much any parts place. Autozone carries 3" exhausit gaskets in their performance seciont too.

You might have to look around for it a little - but it's out there and pretty common. Last time I remember using it I *think* I bought it at a motorcycle shop. It's specifically made for exhausts. Try a good hot rod shop.
Copper RTV is good for close tolerance machined surfaces like header to block. The putty can fill much larger gaps. Look for Loctite, Devco or Pyro Putty. Make sure you get the right application as there are different formulations for different parts of the system.

Their 3" exhaust gaskets do not fit for our cars. They sorta look like a triangle and have 3 bolt holes.
