where is the brake fluid??
where is the brake fluid??
My ABS light is on and i wanna change my brake fluid before i go in depth in trying to find the problem.... SO can anyone tell me where the brake fluid bottle is? and what fluid do you recommend i replace it with?? thanks alot -Jeff
the brake fluid reservoir is near the master cylinder, driver's side, near firewall
Spring for a good synthetic like Redline or Motul. If you're going cheap, get atleast a DOT 4 fluid

Be VERY careful when changing brake fluid. Any air in the system is very bad. Also, there is a specific order in which the brakes need to be bled. Start with the caliper that is farthest from the master cylinder. It helps a lot to have a second person to do the job. Dealers have shop manuals, or MAZDATRIX has them too I think. They are a bit expensive, so I got a used one.

Changing the brake fluid WILL NOT HELP THE ABS LIGHT.
Does the ABS light come on when you start the car, before you drive it? If so then you have a problem with the pump or computer.
If the ABS light comes on after you start driving, say over 5-10mph, then the problem is a bad sensor or and dirty sensor ring. To test for a bad sensor unplug the sensors (engine compartment for front sensors or under the rear bins for the rear sensors) and use a multimeter to test the resistance across them, it should be around 750 ohms. Find one with a significantly different reading and that is your problem.
