When should you replace plug wires?

Just wondering when the plug wires need to be replaced and what the tell-tale signs are of needing to replace them.

What kind should they be replaced with... are OEM parts good for this?

I replace the wires with the plugs...usually about every 15k/yearly. I use stock for both, but then again, I don't put my car on the track like a lot of the forum does.

My car would sputter and feels like it fell on it's face when I'm under high boost (8+). I replaced the plugs, fuel filter, air filter and still the same thing. Then when I replaced the old wires with the jacobs wires it felt like a brand new car. One bad thing about the jacob wires is that the boot tends to slip off. So if you feel any loss of power or breakup during high rpm then it might be it.
