I would love to get one too.

I heard from my dealer that they have a waiting list already and that the price will be gouged at least 2-5K over sticker.

I will be waiting a while for the price gouging to stop and to see if they release a high performance Mazdaspeed model.

Mazda wants to race the RX-8's in the speedvision touring car class but the Tri-Point guys are telling Mazda they need more HP to be competetive.

I hope Mazda steps up to the challenge.

Isn't the car supposed to come out in 2003? I was thinking that it would be released NEXT fall, not this fall. I could be wrong though.

Fat chance! Mazda is starting at the bottom and working their way up... Last year was the Protege 5, this fall-winter we will see the new Mazda 6. Rumor has it that the Dealers won't see the Mazda 6 on the lot until January/February.

After that? Something is going to happen to the Millennia...some say it will be getting a name change, but the car will be the same. Others say the Millennia is going to be dropped due to poor sales.

AS FOR THE RX-8? Don't hold your breath. The RX-8 isn't going to be shipped until the fall/winter of 2003. Don't expect to see them at the dealer until 2004.

Why is this in the 3rd gen area? Shouldn't it be in the General Automotive or the Lounge area?

A reason could be that it is after tax season. After people get their tax refunds, it is time to spend, spend, spend! Also, just before Christmas time, so people still have their money before it is all spent on xmas gifts.

me too!!! At first I didn't really like it too much. But then I realized that it was because I kept thinking it's an replacement for the 7. Now that I think about it, it's actually a pretty cool car (as a commuter)!

Based on a conversation with a Mazda NAO Gulf Coast region director. We will be seeing them no later than March/May across the nation, the Mazda 6's will be out sooner than that with the regular 4 door out first, the hatch in the late summer and wagon soon after that.

The Millenia on the other hand is dead, the Mazda 6 will replace both the 626 and the Millenia in the lineup officially.

And Yes, there will be a Mazdaspeed RX-8, however will it be turbo or not....that is the question.

hope this helps.

I think you guys are going a little far in calling it a "family car". Would you call an M5 a family car just because it has 4 doors? It's supposed to be a sport sedan with emphasis on sport. It's not an "FE".

it's been said a million times before... just wait til you see it before you judge... every person I have spoke with that was a nay-sayer.. had a completely different perspective after seeing it...

The size difference betwen the RX-8 and the RX-7 are very slight... less than less than 10cm in any direction... 50/50 weight dist. remains a comparable power to weight ratio to the former RX-7, although not heavily laden with 4 people. I must say the only extra people I expect to haul in the back are my lil bro's or my lil one one day.

I was at

at Mazda dealer this weekend (Anaheim), and the general consensus was late next year delivery of the RX-8

but they had my radiator cap in stock!

and 3 FD's in the service bays!

I heard middle of 2003...

They could always change it though.

The design is pretty much finalized, so thats what itll look like.

As for performance, it should be a few ticks off the 3rd gen's performance (0-60 5.5 or so, quarter mile 14.0-14.5 i would guess)
