What's wrong with this engine bay?

No matter what I do, my engine bay looks messy.

I just can't get it looking like those cars- well, you guys know which ones. Any idea what I should change out?

What have you guys done to clean up your bays?

Change the silicone hose to red and polish the TB and UIM.

Get a strut bar, some type of rubber/plastic cleaner with a high gloss shine, some Mother's Polish and a dremel with a small polishing pad on the end and spend a day rubbing, polishing and buffing. And if you can...don't drive it in the rain. Somehow undercarriage grim from dirty rain water always finds its way to the engine bay.

Why not just search, I'm not trying to be a dick but there's really no reason for this thread.

- use black magic or something similar to being out the "black" in black plastic / rubber hoses.

- your intake pipes and other aluminum parts need to be wiped with mothers if they are polished.

- Just wipe everything and clean each and every parts.

One of those small steam cleaners will do an amazing job for what little effort is needed and there's no chemicals involved. If you decide to go th polishing route with the UIM and TB let me know ! ! ! !

change the couplers to black

change the vac hoses to black

do something with the pipes

reroute the power cables, (looks like over kill, IMO. get smaller ones)

hide that vac line running across the firewall

clean the pullies, ATL, filler neck, y-pipe, front turbo, cruise control bracket, PS steering res.

why are your main fuses WAY back there?

make a heat shield for your intake.

Does anybody know what that one black hose running on top of the secondary intake pipe is for? It's my last ugly black hose- CantGoStraight, what did you do with yours?
reroute the power cables, (looks like over kill, IMO. get smaller ones)
The car used to be a show car for JL Audio, so the wiring is for the insane sound system. I've been a little afraid of touching it, but I guess I'll have to.
hide that vac line running across the firewall
Done.
clean the pullies, ATL, filler neck, y-pipe, front turbo, cruise control bracket, PS steering res.
Two newbie questions- what is "Mothers"?
What do you use to steam clean the bay?

Thanks!

Mothers is a care car product brand,
I bought the Back To Black and its the best 2 dollars I ever spend, makes everything on the car like your front lip or door handles look new. Great stuff.

You do seem to have alot of color under there. Blue/Black/Red/Yellow. Other than that, I don't think it looks that bad. Just a good cleaning. I use latex gloves or plastic bags to cover the fuse boxes and just use a pressure washer to get the grime. I also found that ArmorAll tire foam works great on the fender liners and other plastic that shows. Makes it look new without being greasy-shiny.

And geeze Can'tGoStraight, can you give us a little warning? The glare!

Change to front mount intercooler.
Single turbo,
Relocate your battery to some were else.
Polish you UIM and throtle body and themostat housing.
Get some pullies.
Poilsh and paint you alt.
Polish or powder coat your water pump housing and polish your water pump cover.
Get rid of all the blue. Red should be your accent color.
Get some kind of nice looking strut tower bar.
Get rid of the power sterring and A/C.
