Prevents oil from entering the intake during high g corners, can get a good puff of smoke and during track events can consume quite a bit of oil. There is a crank vent to the suction of the first turbo and the 93/94 cars also have a pcv which feeds the uim.

It is good if you don't want to blow a ton of smoke everytime you take a corner on the track. I used to have my filler neck plumbed to my turbos. After one track event I changed my setup and routed my filler neck to an oil catch can. BTW, that is a very nice one in the pic. Where can I get one of those and how much will that set me back? Bottom line is, if you are not having any problems with your current setup then don't worry about an oil catch can. I didn't need one until I gutted all my vacuum hoses when I did the haltech/non seq mod.

its main purpose is to lower/vent the crankcase pressure (reduces internal drag) and to stop detonation caused by the ingestion of oil mist into the engine. the oil mist lowers the volatility of the fuel and its ability to mix with air.

That makes sense. I've always worried that adding pre-mix does this. Do you think that by adding pre-mix to the gas tank while keeping the stock oil injection system online could cause detonation? I've been adding 4 oz. of synthetic 2 stroke with every tank...??

It's a pretty low concentration.........
