Rebuild is going to cost: 2300 for a stock port reman, ~3000 for a streetport, and its goes up from there if you want more porting, 3mm seals or anything else, can cost over $4000.
most shops charge about $1200-1500 to install a motor
so figure about $3500 - 5500 if they are installing it for you

Previous owner gave me a receipt of the rebuild he got... about 6k but he had it streetported and had everything installed by the shop - even got a couple used parts which im not to pleased about...
Oh and he used an atkins rotary 3mm rebuild kit so that made labor cost 25% more since he didnt buy the main parts from the rebuilds own shop.

You can get a simple re-man for $2,000 and just throw it in or you could go all out. What ever fits your budget and your needs.

This is Ture. If you can spend the time you can get a rebuild done very cheap or very expensive. Here do this, bring your car up to ct and I'll get it rebuilt an put in for 2k(if motor parts are good). Or you can bring it to a performance shop and pay about 6k. Its up to you.
Do lots of searching for your best options. Dont be scared to travel to get the best deals. Sometimes its worth it.

I can typically rebuild a non-blown 13brew (reusing existing housings) with 3mm seals, solid corners, viton oil orings, thermal pellet replacement, new gaskets etc, streetported, and remove/reinstall into your car for around $2500, more if your housings/rotors are damaged and require replacement.
This is about 20-40% below industry standard, however.

i searched around for price when mine needed it. i eventually ended up going with Acosta Motorsports in wallington nj based on price. their site is www.acostamotorsports.com if you'd like to check them out.
i paid $3700 after taxes and everthing for them to pull the motor, rebuild with a streetport and re-install it. they finished the job in one business week after i dropped the car off. also they installed a different set of stock turbos and stock intercooler i had free of charge at the same time. i am not trying to advertise for them, rather share my experiences since i feel i got a pretty good deal.

right now I have a 95 cobra. with very mild mods. its a very sharp looking car, and I 'm actually readdy to turbo it. but I still can't get over these FD's. I found so many in the 10-13k range in my area. the first thing I was going to do was rebuild the engine. a 450 street snake is cool but I think that a 300 hp FD is better. if I can get it in the 3-4k range I might consider my plans for my stang. I got three good shops around here so I'm sure I could find a deal. I should have just posted how much did you spend on your engine rebuild. Thanks for all the replys guys.

since you are in TX, how far are you from Rotary Performance? Their website is www.rx7.com I replaced my FC 13b @ the dealer, set me back $3.5k (2.2k for parts 1.3k for install).

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
that is the baddest RX-8 I have ever seen. that would be the only thing that would upstage the FD in my find. not better, but just as good if not better cause the 20B. damn I like it.

Yeah, I thought those guys were nearer. I'm still trying to decide if its Gotham or Rotary Performance who is going to build my engine. Then again, I think I am still a good 6 months till my motors goes, LOL.
