whats this bit called??
Today i tried and failed to bypass my heater matrix with a new hose as it was spraying hot water all over my girlfriends new boots over 3000 rpm,
first of all i clamped the tube and it worked, then i thought hang on, maybe im stopping coolant, this wont be very good at all for the engine so just as a precaution i took the G clamp off.
The tube which goes from the bottom of the engine block to the heater matrix has now been removed, groovy! but in doing this i have snapped the bit off that the tube attaches too, at the bottom of the engine. I dont know what this part is called or how hard it is to replace, does anyone have any ideas? i live in the UK
I have now decided to buy a heater matrix and do the job properly. Any help woudl be fantastic

try taking a pic of what you are describing. If u are trying to bypass the heater core you can do this without any ill affect. But since u bought a new one and as its getting cold I say replace the heat core. Is the heater core leaking inside the car?? If so you are going to have to pull the dash out. Anywho...Take a pic as this will explain a lot.

You can't just clamp off the heater line. It is best to simply bypass the core as suggested the first time you posted about your problem. Now you have more problems by trying to do some Afro-American customization....lol!
The heater return line goes into a special black plastic insulator fitting, I am assuming this is what you broke? All you have to do is to run a line from the where the heater hose feeds into the core and route that to this fitting that you broke.
Keep in mind these pics are from a LHD car. I am assuming your heater core is on the left side of your car where ours are on the right.

HEY HEY, thats the part thanks, i did intend to route from the bottom of the engine, i, e the part i broke, to the metal pipe that runs along the fire wall/ bulk head, bypassing the matrix, i snapped most of this plastic off i have no more than 10-12mm to try and get the pipe to fit to, what a pile of dog poo,,,,,,,,,,,,,how am i going to sort this stumpy bit out to get the pipe to fit it????
i know what i need to do its just how do i sort the snapped bit out?
i was thinking using thinner tube to go on the inside of the pipe, with thicker pipe over and jubilee clipped on both ends??? will this be tooo restrictive of flow, or should i just replace the snapped part, is it easy too replace?

fill from the filler neck, not the AST. disconnect the hose at the throttle body to bleed off any air. If your car is level, and you pour slowly, you'll fill the system correctly this way. The manual indicates the maximum fill rate. It's a bit slow going but if you follow those directions it works.
