Question Whats the best SMIC?

Between the Greddy, Pettit, and the PFS, or anyother what would be the best SMIC for the money, I really would like to avoid moving my battry or the M2 large would be great, looking for the best temp drop and fit.

thanks

Clark

moving the battery is a great mod. i have had a battery leak due to the extreme heat in the engine. it also allows better cooling by unblocking the fan, better weight distribution, im sure there are other perks.

battery relocation: a big plus, and if you have a nice bat. like an Optima Redtop then you can see what I mean.

The ASP IC is the M2 IC. ASP licensed the design to M2 for resell. However, M2 went out of business and ASP has begun selling them under the original name:

ive been reading into this topic also,,,,i wanted the best possible standard mount (already reloacted battery),, what about the large M2 ,, does it do a good job of dropping charge air temprature,,, what about power increase if u manage to drop air tempratures more than the standard intercooler,, besides engine safety,, there must be some power rewards,,, does it make the car feel more responsive like on a cold day?

Any decent IC will make the turbos more responsive. The reason is that the turbos won't have to work as hard to produce the same amount of boost. If the stock IC is say 70% efficient, then you'll have to produce about 14.5 PSI to reach the 10 PSI after the IC. If the new IC is say 90% efficient, then the turbos only need to reach 11 PSI to have 10 PSI after the IC. I'm just making these numbers up, but the less the turbos have to work to produce the power, the more responsive they are (and the easier it is on the turbos themselves).

Good point to get the most out of the turbos, but your example is more about reducing IC pressure drop, which is important. With usual mods, at 12-13 psi boost the stock ic pressure drop (boost loss) was measured at 2.5 psi, vs M2/ASP med at less than 1 psi. The efficiency rating refers only to how close to ambient the IC drops charge temps to.

You just need reasonable temp drops, but with minimum pressure drop. Example: dropping manifold temps from 130F to 90F only gets you about 3.5% more power.
